What is this ??

Good evening everyone.

I was changing the light in the boot of my 2003 3L E85 to an LED bulb when I noticed a wire and 2 connectors hanging down right from the back of my boot!!!!

On the end of the wire is what looks to be a female and a male connector plugged into each other - the wires hanging out the end of the connector arrangement are twisted together aswel!?!?

Can anyone identify this and how I fix it or what should be on the end of it please?

It’s the micro switch for the parcel shelf. May have broken previously and someone has hard wires it

Your microswitch for the shelf is missing if you tried to put the roof down whilst the parcel shelf is in the up position, this switch would stop you from doing it (I think).

So yeah, don't try and put the roof down whilst the shelf is up.

I actually fixed mine a couple of years ago as the metal switch fell off. I will try and find the photos now.

I have ordered a replacement switch and the black plastic bit so including the 2 screws so hopefully it’s an easy fix!
