What is this bracket called in the engine bay

I need one to stop the damn sound generator from rattling..

Apologies for the poor picture quality. My crappy "cutting edge" G2 phone does not even have a flash!

well....technically not a bracket, in the states we'd call that silver piece a hose clamp (might be other names for it). As far as what it's clamping down there is a plethora of things it could be :D
 
that's the sound generator outlet tube, connecting to the actual sound generator module itself.
and the metal shiney thing is technically called a "Jubilee Clip", but people will know it as a hose clamp too. :)

Do you know exactly which bit is rattling on the generator?

Yes you are right about it being the outlet tube.

The "loose" bit of the sound generator is where the pipe goes into the sound generator module from the bulkhead (i think!).

The one going into the sound generator module twists loose after a drive, and although it is secure there is a lot of "play". Which i think causes it to rattle.

Does anyone on here know if there is meant to be a jubilee clip on the pipe where it feeds into the sound generator module? The bulkhead does not seem secure at all either.

On mine the car did not come with a jubilee clip
 
there isn't a jubiliee on either end of the pipe that goes between the generator and the bulkhead.
The top end is a pushfit connection, and should rotate. But on mine, it's pretty secure and doesn't "vibrate".
However, for the sake of 50p, you could easily stick a jubly on that end.

The bulkhead end is again a push fit, but through a rubber grommet.
This is a particularly tight fit on mine and took ages to get the bloody thing out in the first place.
If yours is loose at this end, it's probably not fully in?

Try taking the pipe off, and then the grommet, then fitting the grommet to the pipe, before fitting the whole lot again.


If it STILL fails, then get some epoxy on the bottom of the tube and onto the grommet.
That, with the juby at the top end, should completely stop it rattling!

update: Many thanks Sk93... :thumbsup:

I attached a jubilee clip to the inlet and your previous posts pointed me in the direction of the grommet.

I realised the grommet had actually come out of the bulk-head and was still attached to the sound generator pipe! I separated both, attached the grommet to the bulkhead by itself and then secured the sound generator pipe to the grommet in the bulkhead.

The generator pipe is very stiff/secure now. No rattles, just a deep burble of sound!

Great advice as always on this forum.
 
haha.. I secretly knew it would be the grommet :D
It was a pain for me too, as I pushed the grommet into the cabin on first attempt :?

Glad you got it sorted and can now enjoy the mod properly :thumbsup:
