What is the part number for the SE front dampers?

After buying my car used last year I am slowing checking and changing bits (as everyone does). I've noticed the code marked on the dampers doesn't not match with the realoem part number, am I missing something or do I have a different set of dampers on here (it wouldn't surprise me as the car was on Eibach springs when I got it). I'm hoping someone can tell me what part number they have on their SE model front suspension (I have a 2006 3.0Si), or give me some idea of whether these are the correct dampers for my car.

If they're not the standard dampers then I'll buy new ones, but would prefer to get to the bottom of this before I shell out a couple of hundred quick on them.

I'm at a loss. Thanks.

According to the catalogue, the shocks you have are meant for standard suspension (denoted by the ST symbol), but seem to be the only Sachs PN for the E85/E86. The PN 900 132 is a service kit and the PN 802 066 is the top mount only.

So, I think you have the correct shocks for your car and they look in pretty good condition too. Please take a look at the catalogue on the link above to check for yourself (page 207). :)

Interestingly I now see that the shock on my car (E85) is the part number of the E86. I wonder why someone may have used those shocks, as far as I understand they have different setups.

Looks like I may have just found an excuse to order some new dampers......

It is also the PN for the E85. See highlighted PNs.

But for peace of mind and a couple hundred quid you could have new Bilstein shocks on the front :)
 
A bit of cross referencing of BMW part numbers on www.realoem.com and searching a few online parts suppliers confirms that the Sachs shocks you have are the correct SE ones :thumbsup: 20210329_201341.jpg20210329_201112.jpg20210329_201131.jpg
