another quick question,

what is the max tire size for front and rear?
can i go for 20"?
and do you guys know how the "machined" finish look like? is it the same with the "diamond cut"?

i'm planning to get a new set of wheels

thank you =)

If my memory serves me correctly you are running 19" now. I know 20" rims have been done but as far as tire sizes and offsets I can't help. If someone else does not come along that can give you better info you might try sending GP20 who is a member here a PM as I know he has a lots of knowledge about tires and rims,

This will probably get a better response in the general forum... will move it for ya

JMO, but 20s are too large for the Z4 (heavy too)

+1. 20's are too big for the Z4. I can't think of one good thing that 20" rims would provide.

- terrible ride comfort (heck I have 19's now and I've been wanting to go back to 18"s)
- looks ghetto on a small car like the Z4; this isn't the 6 series.
- you'll need 30 and 25 profile tires which means very little side wall and very expensive tires
- rims are more prone to bend due to little side wall protection
- makes your Z4 even slower & less nimble. Your gas mileage will go down even more.
- did I mention 20" rims look ghetto on a Z4?

Unless you want it to be a show car 20's are just way too big. It kind of resembles a roller skate when a small car has BIG rims.

I've got 19"s on mine (see below) and some days I think it's borderline "ghetto." I would not go with 20" for the same reasons mentioned above.

As far as tire widths, I've seen 245/275 without much issues, and even read somewhere someone doing 255/285. I guess it depends on the offsets.

Rick Hunter, I know 245/275 is not an issue on the "M" but I believe the 245 front on the non "M" Zed without some mods could be a problem...

I am likely going to be looking for new tires about a year from now and if anyone had fitted 245's to the front without any issues I would like to hear about it....

I actually like the look of your car Rick, I was looking into the Beyern type5 Rims. What Are your tire sizes because I like the look of your setup

I've got the widest low profile shoes, 18's, and w/ spacers to boot and it sets off nicely..19's are pushing it and 20's are out of the question..

Nice write up.Only one question you probaly wont want to answer. Did you get them from modbargains? I was looking at them. I just dont want any problems while dropping down that much money. Im usually not confrontartional, just when someone has my money though I can be.

Hmmm... who knows if service has improved with that company... a bit of a hit or miss with members across several forums. I will only say that they're still in transition concerning damage control resolution, and that I say it with respect. I don't want to start any flamewars. :innocent:
