What is the bonnet made of?

Bernard is easy. It's 'Bur ned'

Derby is my birth town. Confusion here can be explained that we used to spell it 'Darbye' so the correct pronunciation comes from that.

Hell I've gotta be careful here. If I teach you US guys to speak English I'll only be able to tell you apart from the general UK public by the golf trousers you insist on wearing everywhere and insane tips you leave. :poke:

I work for a German firm and we won a contract to supply Loughborough Uni. I managed to persuade my German workmates that Loughborough (pronounced luff-bura) was really pronounced looga-burooga. :D The client caught on and played along for the whole week!

Heres one for our yank friends

A Welsh town name "Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch"

translates to "The church of St. Mary in the hollow of white hazel trees near the rapid whirlpool by St. Tysilio's of the red cave".

But dont ask me to pronounce it either.

You ought to hear how we murder Warwick or Hereford for that matter.

I was born and brought up in Herefordshire, we used to have some American friends come over from Ohio, they just could not get their heads around pronounciations or the accent for that matter

Hi Rusty

What part of Herefordshire did you come from?

I'm Herefordshire born and bred myself but never felt the need to leave.

Hi Andrew Morris, Little village just outside Kington called Titley,

Which part of Herefordshire are you from?

Rusty

Titley? Lovely place.

I drove through there tonight on my way home from Presteigne.

I go out to the Stagg in Titley sometimes for a meal. Bit pricey though.

I live in Letton, about 8 miles east of Kington.

What a small world we live in. :)

Everybody is related around there :D

Yep - I don't know whether to call my sister my mummy or my father my brother....

But at least as children we were never alone long enough at night to get scared of the dark.
