What is the best way to sell a Z4 Alpina

Hi again. Hope you are all well and not living in too much fear of this Autumn's budget statement. Rumours abound, but let's see what happens. Anyway, thought I'd let you all know that I plan to have one last try at selling the Z4 Alpina. I am going to enter it into Hampson's November sale with an estimate of £6-8k to reflect the current market. I haven't done so yet, but will do in the next couple of days. So if you do fancy (another ?) one, you know where to go :) Thanks. Ben

I have no idea the correct value (£6k to £8k guide sounds v cheap but clearly isn't as it's not that far below the £9k you didn't get before.)

But based on watching classic car auctions over the last 6 months I get the distinct impression that either -

(1) Cars sold by private treaty often don't sell, and when they do they go for 25% below asking
or
(2) Auctions are the place to go if you are a buyer (or a seller whose priority is to get rid, as opposed to get a good price).

Certainly one I'll be watching with interest. Best of luck with the sale – hopefully, it'll find a good home and go on to rack up many more miles.

£6188 inclusive of buyers premium must have netted c. £5.5k to the OP. I can't help but feel that a private sale would have delivered more.

Private sale. What is that ? They used to call it time wasters and tyre kickers. Now it’s EBay bidders who buy but then change their mind with no recourse for the seller, or car and classic auctions online that take their commission and leave the seller, again, swinging in the wind.
It is a lovely car, and yes someone has a bargain. But now, in the current anti combustion engine climate, and with anything offered at auction tracked so closely if it hasn’t sold, I had little or no option.
Best of luck Z4 folk. Cracking cars, long may you defend against the woke EV brigade.
