Just posted on Twitter - late morning today on the M6 in Cheshire.
What is it? Apparently it's a Range Rover of some description.
Velar? :idunno:

That must have got to some temperature to melt that much body work!
What temperature does aluminium burn at?

Not that high looking at the state of that. A bit of T Cut will buff that out

At least it's come to it's final rest in a RR's favourite place; hard shoulder (that's where I've seen most of them anyway) :D

"Recovery is being arranged". What, half a dozen bin bags?

Ali melts at 660 deg c, roughly half the temp of steel. It's probably an aluminium alloy, not pure.

My X6 is mostly aluminium and plastic. The front wings are plastic and the fans have to come on when its doing the DPF regen and they stay on for quite a while even when parked while this is happening. I read that if they dont come on the temp that is reached during the DPF regen is enough to melt the wings.
Hope I never find out if its true. :o

I think that one was made from Thermite and cheese. :o

(Best get out and run away if you can, sounds like the driver did just that.)

My G30 5 Series is Aluminium Plastic bumbers magnesium suspension components in fact the only steel is the roof arch which connects with the rear quarter panel all to shave 100 kg over the previous Model

Eek! :o

It's hard to tell what it was! But good to know the driver was OK.
