What improvements would you like to make?

If you could go back to the drawing board what improvements would you like to make to your Z4 :scratchhead:

True armrest in the center.
Better cupholders.
Ability to add heat to dash vents (a la every other BMW).
Dipstick (although I probably check my oil level more frequently this way, I'd like a manual backup to the electronics).
Rear window washer/wiper.
Low beam running lights (a la my 2003 325Ci) in addition to the Angel Eyes.
Whiter, brighter Angel Eyes.

As you can see, lots are cosmetic and picky. Overall, the car is pretty damn good as is.

like smokin' said......

angel eyes, stronger cup holders, electronic oil moniter, and the ability to have the seats cool you down, as well.

and to also have the car drop a little bit the faster it goes!!!

For me:-

1. Better clutch feel
2. Run flat tyres never even make it to the drawing board
3. Drop down mirror when reversing (As E46)
4. No tramlining (see No.2 for that one)
5. Less ratles & creeks
6. One touch hood operation (Reinhold module as standard)
7. More sound deadening in doors (i think just early models, as mine sounds like a fiat panda)
8. Oil level check on the move

ALso, with all your posts 2cats, do you ever have time to drive your car ?

How exactly do you mean here?

I thought the same thing, surely you adjust the temperature knob ?.......maybe he shoudl add that to his list. Maybe mine was an option when new :P

- center console materials that don't scratch just by looking at them
- just a few more inches to the rear overhang (for improved appearance and trunk storage)
- properly designed vanos seals from day one
- better quality roll-over covers (not the cheap looking plastic kind)

"M" Locking diff option for the non-M models.
Air Scarf as an option.
Better Cup Holders.

1. 12 volt power ports under the dash so all us gadget bugs could easily plug our new toys in without performing surgery on the electronics to get them all to work.

2. A wind deflector that we could raise or lower with a switch.

3. A much more powerful audio system with concealed speakers and a recording of a Ferrari actuated by our gas pedal so we could make others think we had a powerful car and zoom down the road. :poke:

So y'all have never driven another BMW? There's a little wheel at the center dash vent you can dial toward "heat" or "cool" so you can add just a dash of heat to the air coming out there and not add any to your feet. Also worked in reverse-if you had the heat on, you could dial toward "cool" on your upper body, especially if the sun was streaming in the windows. I thought it was quite a nice touch. BTW, my 325Ci and my Z both had auto climate control.

The clutch feel is fine for me-I've adjusted how I drive rather than making the car adjust. Don't know if they changed the year they did it, but I can check my oil level on the move-you have to wait until the oil is up to temp anyway.

Oh, and one other thing, I'm not a "he". :driving:

I've pretty much done everything I want but a few for BMW to consider:

Stop jerkin' customers around with amber lights on a prestige car so you can facelift it later to make the 'new' one look better
Stop testing run flats on a performance car before you get them working on a standard saloon
Stop using cheap plastic on door armrests, console and skimping on door sound proofing, etc.

Respect the brand with a few more decent materials on a car that can cost £40k+ in the UK

Awesome, there is too, what a great idea, how did I never notice that before

Not guilty, I never called you anything :friends:

It looks like the centre vent will be on the new Z4 though.

Not you,babe, easty did... :D

Glad you found that little wheelie thing. Man, when I first got my 325, couldn't figure out why it always felt like I had the heat on but my toes were freezing--the magic little dial fixed it.

Is it just a BMW thing, such a good idea. Anyway, bad news for you, it doesn't look like it made it onto the new model, or it isn't where it should be
