What have you done to your E89 today

Wing installed, they did do a great job and it feels real solid, Got the 35is carriers for the rear to upgrade at a later date, and some polishing as mine was really pitted

Glad you are happy with what they have done and it's what you wanted. Always good when you get what you want.

I've done a thing!

I've been, casually, looking for a set of Sports seats for my Z for a while now. But they have to be a specific spec. They need to be Coral Red Kansas Lrather, with heat and are electric memory. Surprisingly a rare find.

So the thing I've done is buy these..

Now the astute among you will notice that these are not electric memory.
Well to sort that issue, I've bought these as well...

Which are electric memory. So once they arrive I'll be swapping the leather over and installing them in mine. Then I'll give my standard electric memory, heated, seats a refurbished and put them on the market, along with the black ones which will be manual, no heat, and they'll have a good refurbishment as well.

Another step towards full spec :driving:;)
So the drivers seat leather has been swapped over to the electric/memory frame, black leather has done the reverse.
Fitted in my Z and the memory works, side bolsters work (thought I'd have to do a power feed for this), but the heat doesn't work, nothing, nowt, nada, not a thing!! On investigation it's on a different circuit compared to my old heated memory seats. Well it's not winter yet, so I'll sort that later.

So next job is to do the passenger leather swap and then get that fitted.

Just got to get my favourite position now and set the memory, the drive to work in the morning should show that
I gave the leather a good proper clean as I was removing it, but it could still do with a dab of colour, which ill do when the chance arrives. The passenger seat will just need a general clean, as it looks hardly sat in.

Just finished detailing our replacement e89, we loved our 2013 white n red but with 85k and a faultless ownership we decided a last off the line low mileage e89 was needed before it became difficult finding something in similar condition Screenshot_20250819-191039_Gmail.jpg

My new ‘space saver’ aka front 326M with a Conti SC7 235/40 19 now refurbed ..

If you want to know what a 326M looks like in graphite..behold…

Fits snugly in the E89..packed in place with various other emergency / breakdown stuff../big hole in the middle to stuff a bag into

Will feel much more happy bouncing across the highlands now..IMG_0356.jpegIMG_0355.jpegIMG_0357.jpegIMG_0358.jpegIMG_0359.jpeg

Drove it to Birkenhead to collect a tiny part for my classic Vitesse costing £5.

Had to wait best part of an hour 'till the fella found the part

Still parked where I left it and all wheels intact on my return.

Result all round

That's interesting B21, as someone that is driving naked without spare wheel or gloop, but only GEM Recovery. I thought a wheel would preclude topless driving, so may squeeze a small wheel in if we do a Wales road trip again in the Z4.

As previously discussed…most of trips are a long way from home…many relay companies now limit each recovery to 75 miles…so 300 miles equals 4 recoveries with attendant delays..

Never yet seen a Z4 completely halted by mechanical failure but several with non repairable tyre failures..

I have an 18” space saver in a carry bag brand new if you’re interested…🧐🫡😳

My Z4 passed MOT with only advisories for low rear tyre and wear on inside of fronts; good news (new Goodyear Eagle F1being fitted tomorrow). Fitted micro-switches to boot /roof mechanism as preventative maintenance.
Washed car again only four days after polishing and sealing last weekend due to Saharan sand in Tuesday's rain turning my paintwork to filthy brown colour, Grrrrr.

Thanks B21. I shall think about that offer. ;)

As I've got mine up for sale, it makes sense that the roof decided to have a hissy fit, today. Spent the afternoon getting the boot to open, windows to close and indetifying a broken wire.

The 370mm rear BBK final production brackets are back from the machine shop..

Everything bolts up perfectly and looks spot on.

Basic kit..just the brackets and relevant bolts and washers will be available as a kit for £200 plus p+p…the kit uses all standard BMW parts or you can use third party equivalents from Zimmerman, Ferodo, TRW etc etcIMG_0391.jpegIMG_0390.jpegIMG_0392.jpegIMG_0393.jpegIMG_0394.jpegIMG_0395.jpegIMG_0396.jpegIMG_0398.jpegIMG_0397.jpeg

Being a sad bunny..I’ve commandeered a couple of different bags for my big space saver compliant luggage …found a larger size of bag used by caravaners for their leccy cables and an 18” space saver bag …with these I can pack enough clothes for over a week into the available space..obviously not a solution for two up touring but a lot neater than just wedging stuff into the spare wheel well..OCD!IMG_0399.jpegIMG_0401.jpegIMG_0402.jpegIMG_0403.jpegIMG_0404.jpeg

I just looked at the laid out set of brake brackets and thought, that's nice, he's made toy cars for the kids.

Are you doing a video for this as well ? Looking forward to the before and after photos 😎
