What have you done to your E89 today

Finished my 677 Professional Audio upgrade with the addition of the rear centre speaker grill with built-in tweeter. Only £37 all-in from Sytner BMW at Nottingham, far cheaper then even lllparts.co.uk, which have it starting at £44 + shipping! And the cheapset on eBay was £57. :driving:

* Not actually noticed any difference having the tweeter there, but at least the grill finishes the look properly :D

Have to agree on the look. My centre panel section has broken clips so might now invest in a similar replacement even though I’ve got no speaker there.

Not so much ‘what I’ve done’, more a ‘what I have seen’… a friend of mine (in the trade) has just sold a rather pretty 4-pot E89 in white with tan leather. It’s clearly an entry level car as it’s on 17” wheels and doesn’t have the M-Sport toys or I-drive etc options mine does, but… when putting new tyres in it (as well as replacing a cracked front alloy - run flat tyres aren’t fussy in their victims) the wheel and tyre combo was the same F&R…? Is that right? No off-set in the wheel or difference in tyre profiles. I said that was wrong but now doubt myself. Just wondered… the car has gone out, re-shod, as it came in. Cheers

You can buy the replacement panel fairly cheaply

A frustrating day… :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Trying to resolve my seized brake pipe unions

Cut the old one off..then found there not enough straight line to get my rinky dink swage tool on it..

So cut it back to where there’s a straight line ..then discovered can’t get the new swage nut on the plastic coated brake line..

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252308824962And

So now ordered a plastic brake liner removal tool.. :headbang:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B075TFXXY4?ref_=ppx_hzod_title_dt_b_fed_asin_title_0_0

Tried trial fitting the really really big Brembo front brake ..

Discovered there’s no way to make M2/M4 brake protection plate fit due to the knuckle mount points.. :headbang:

So ordered a fresh pair of alloy E90/E89 larger ones..

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/305684050271

Pic as token progress one

‘Popped’ as in burst?

Just realised a positive sales benefit for a 2 / 4 post lift vs scissor lift..an extra parking space ..

Cooking a delicious meal for my wife…who is sadly quite poorly….baked brake calipers …exquisitely sourced from BMW M5s and Ford Shelby Mustang…what can you say?🧐

Did you choose the caliper color with the body color in mind?
It's a color you don't see often in Japan.
Nissan GTR is orange
BMW and SUBARU are blue
MB is silver
Ferrari and Porsche are red and yellow
Did you have a hard time choosing?
I chose the eye-catching red.

The eternal struggle for the ‘right’ colour….

The car’s AY colour makes black a logical choice ..but given a sexy front caliper maybe under plays things ..personally not a great fan of red calipers…I do like some of the anodised finishes but with cast steel / forged rear calipers not possible..First World problems ..

Not so much the car, but I got my spare key back today, fully functional. It's never worked from when I bought the car. Sent it off to a repair service on ebay for the sum of £17.48. Here's the link to the service for anyone else that has a key that doesn't work, and wants it repaired.

Amassed all the tools ..hopefully to repair the damaged / seized brake line fittings

"What have you done to your E89 today".....

Mostly trying to avoid damaging it anymore than it got!!
The end to what was a fairly decent day :headbang: :x
Going through the insurance, parts, genuine, are £1000 (Powerfold with auto dimming).
Scumbag, knoby, tipper truck driver decided the two previous attempts to overtake me in a construction zone, that failed, wouldn't deter him as we were approaching the slowing traffic ahead for the traffic lights. So went for one last try but cut in too sharp and took the mirror out, fortunately nothing else.
Unfortunately for him, the cop car two back saw his attempts, and him hitting me, and pulled him over. He's now getting done for reckless driving.
Hmmm, I wonder what tomorrow will bring
