I bought it!
Well, 1 week ago and have had it for 4 days........

2016 Estoril Blue over Walnut 35i MSport with only 21,800 miles.
Unusual colour scheme ; I really like it. :)
Thanks - I've never seen it before. I was hoping for Mineral grey over Walnut but found this one too nice to pass up.

Estoril Blue is a proper throwback colour; and I love it! Would like to see more pics of the interior pls. Looks to be a great find

The interior really pops. At first I would have preferred a black interior with the Estoril, but since the car is a "toy" (replacing my motorcycling hobby) I figured why not get an interesting combo?

I like that too, we looked at a white one with that interior and we as really tempted but I wanted an auto and it was manual. :

Not today but last weekend finally got around to switching to non run flats. I know it’s been said numerous times but what a difference in the overall ride experience. Should have done it earlier but resisted because when I bought the car the dealership had just fitted 4 new Bridgestone RFs so ditching new tyres seemed indulgent. A recent birthday seemed like a good excuse so on went a set of Bridgestone Turanza non RFs.
So why the picture well next dilemma how to cover the puncture possibility, so I bought an eBay wheel/tyre combo for £52 and fitted one of my RFs just as a get me home.
Now I’m wondering if I like silver or gun metal wheels 😳

I prefer the silver wheel, (particularly on a dark car) though I'm not a fan of the dark wheel trend in general.
I too replaced the old RF tires on my Z4 with proper tires and the ride was transformed - I'm surprised how big the improvement is. For flats I'm going to pack in the car an air pump, a flat repair kit and a small scissor jack (yet to source one). I don't want to carry around a full size spare wheel in the limited truck space.
The pass-through compartment looks like a great place to pack everything but the jack.

Of course I'll keep roadside assistance on speed dial for when my genius plan goes awry!
Cheers, James.

I feel ‘I told you so’ springs to mind re RFTs. And I was one of those that held out ditching perfectly good tyres, not fully appreciative of the ride improvement on ‘normal’ rubber. Well done for making the change!

We have a spare rear wheel c/w legacy RFT on it in the garage, just in case. Plus a tyre repair kit in the boot. Didn’t go for a jack as I have no intention of self-recovery! Someone get the AA on short-dial !!

First decent run out on Sunday with the “normal” tyres, so smooth the car felt quite different so really pleased I made the switch.
As for the situation with the spare I guess I’m fortunate to that the car is more a hobby so carrying a full size spare and taking some boot space isn’t an issue.

My E39 jack is perfect on E89. But I don't carry anything if I get a flat/puncture apart from woefully slow electric pump; any gloop/ sealant prevents the tyre being repaired so will have tobuy new tyre. A spare wheel will prevent the roof being lowered. I may have to rely on recovery from GEM.
Oh and believe it or not I had just such a puncture today. No alarm on dash so I will not rely on that again!
Metal shard an inch from the edge that let out all air within the few hours I was at work today. And of all the tyres, it was in my two month old Goodyear Eagle F1 rear, currently costing £200 if you can get one in Plymouth.
I managed to get it inflated to 35psi and drive 5 miles to tyre specialist without any blowout/damage.
Despite all that bad luck, I had some good: a repair was possible which was a great relief.

Sorry to hear about the puncture at least it was fixable. I’ve been told gluppy stuff repairs render the tyre un-fixable hence wanting to carry the spare.

It is a difficult decision PanZEr89, I don't blame you.

A. Runflats which are a compromise to ride quality
B. Carry spare wheel, but in this case it compromises storage/roof
C. Carry sealant but that reduces your tyre to non repairable
D. Hope to drive on punctured tyre and get repair
E. Rely on recovery

My decision based on having had six punctures in 40 years, but fortunately they have all been discovered whilst stationary and within a few miles of home.

I bought my E89 last September with two year old/ 6000 mile Bridgestones on 18". They don't last too long so I chose a replacement Goodyear when one was found with a large cut in the carcase. I hope yours are better. Enjoy your Z4 :D

I'm not an E89 owner, but I have a full size front wheel as a spare in my E86 - as well as Tyre Weld and a compressor plus RAC membership!

OK it limits luggage space, but I've just come home from a 1,300 mile round trip to Scotland that I wouldn't have wanted ruined by a trashed tyre or damaged wheel.

I bought an E46 jack that fits the jacking points on my E86 (and E90).

Hi Guys/gals, ordered new brake disc pads and sensors all around . Removed wheels WD 40 on all bolts etc , checked position of sensor connections. Just returned from road trip to Porto along north coast of Spain (stunning and recommended). 3500kms covered fuel in Spain in some areas 1.33 euros per litre . So just do it !

Fantastic, just do it. Next trip September to Scandinavia. Few jobs to do on the car but love it. We are very lucky to live in France so Europe is never too far away

Nothing. BUT as this is a v popular page, thought I’d hijack it to say that issue #35 of Classic.Retro.Modern. magazine is available from 1 July (in UK) and will contain a quite brilliant article on the E89 Z4. 😉

All back issues and news available here: https://classicretromodern.com/

I’ve seen it; your money will be well spent
