What have you done to your car today?

Hoy dediqué un rato a cambiar los controles de la calefacción para darle un aspecto más moderno al interior. Aunque parezca mentira, los dos mandos laterales son de un horno doméstico, y el del centro lo saqué de una cafetera.

Today :

1. Had another go at the seats - used Furniture Clinic Leather Paint - did an ok job but wish I'd bought the balm
2. The front fogs are just ruined and cost a fortune. I've got a sheet of carbon fibre so cut it out and stuck it over the top. Cheaper than the £45 per side covers.
3. Started on the slam panel but my word, the torx screws are in VERY tight so left 'em soaking in Rocket TT - let's hope they free up overnight
4. Cut resonator foam down again to a quarter of the size - want the sound but need something to take the edge off

Tomorrow - proper full body clay and wax (the car, not me), slam panel re-spray, hopefully start the underbody treatment.

Been driving through Brittany on a selection of main and little roads, with the top down. Lovely to feel the wind in my hair (or would be if I had any) and the sun on my arms. Nice to see that my 23 year old E85 can still show a pesky Audi a clean arse, when necessary. Hardly a pot hole the whole trip. French roads are so much nicer to drive on than the UK 'Dr Foster' roads (waiting to fall in a hole up to my middle). Petrol is slightly cheaper as well but can't understand why oncoming cars flash me when I drive on the left?

I actually chuckled when I read this only because its so true. Why they couldn't design some kind of access panel for that part is unknown.

What I did today was install both driver and passenger cup holders. I don't really know why, I mean they don't hold sh!t and break if you look at them sideways, but they were cheap and easy to install. I may just epoxy them shut, lol.

I also replaced a leaky windshield washer pump and ordered a Proclip cell phone holder as this is going to be my new daily driver car.
 
I have taken my Zed to France for its holidays and I was tickled by the security at Portsmouth Ferry Docks which insisted on searching under the bonnet, in the cabin and in the boot. I assume that they were searching for illegal immigrants trying to leave the UK because they found that it is actually better to be living in a French camp than in the UK, but goodness knows where security thought a stowaway would be in a Zed full of luggage! :)

Nice idea for lumbar support. Also one of my pet peeves of the E85 seats. I've bought a set of OEM E46 lumbar supports and am in the process of installing them.
