What have you done to your car today?

Finished installation of a Bluebus BT module with a microphone for phone calls. The installation took quite long as there was a strange strong EMI noise during calls, from any microphone or even a dummy cable brought into the cabin - that even heavy shielding could not completely remove. Ted, inventor of Bluebus, tirelessly helped with the long troubleshooting via email and it turned out to be a faulty module and now with a new module the audio quality is impeccable and phone calls sound as they should. All panels back in place my zed is now ready for it’s 20th summer (once summer arrives here in Finland).

Changed coolant and fitted my awesome new 224's today, which are in PVR concourse condition. I hadn't realised how poor my originals were. To make the fluid draining a easier I removed the support from my tranmission jack and welded up a slip on table to take its place, put a huge bucket on top and it works a treat. Damm, that block drain plug gets harder to reach every time.

I finally had Royal Steering Wheel redo my Z4 MC steering wheel and it looks very good.
Pics please!

You were probably looking for pics with trim. One trim piece is cracked and another the screw mount plastic is coming off. Unless I’m able to glue these trim pieces back together, i may have to replace them.

Had my wife pick out the steering wheel trim. As it turns out the same as Dubbedown did on his steering wheel.

The wheel trims are a pain; I tried to glue mine but they kept breaking so had to cough up for some new ones which are hideously expensive for what they are.

Removed the intake manifold to replace the heated angle connector that died last summer and to replace the small DISA.

The small DISA had o play in it, but the seals were missing sections.

Turns out my big DISA wax a bit floppy; I could open and close it by hand so I’m waiting for a replacement.

Finished my steering wheel!

Looks awesome, one of my favorite mods! And I think the silver contrast really makes it pop.

I don't think I would have thought of changing trim colors from black to graphite gray had I not seen how well yours turned out!!!

Fitted my ebay MFSW to test and all working. My car is in that lucky category where wiring is already there.

Now taken off, so spokes can be sprayed matt black and it can have the heating elements added, fi ished with a leather and alcantara cover

Also sorted an annoying engine squeak. Bearings gone on the alternator pulley. New one in and 2 new belts, all sorted, squeak gone!

Great today bought a pressure bleed kit that relies on pressure from a spare wheel, excellent bit of kit for 20 quid. Used my launch diag machine i got off ebay for 130 quid which has an abs bleed option that works a treat. And seems to of solved the sqishy pedal on braking problem.

Also found out that incan open the roof with the key fob :D :D :D which is fantastic. Is this a standard feature off the fob or has it been programmed?

Waited patiently for the postman to arrive with my new large DISA valve…

Whilst doing so, I started putting things back together.

And popped a new gasket into the throttle body

And finally, it arrived

Got everything back together and it started perfectly. There is still a slight erratic / rough idle when cold but no rattle from the intake. The car is noticeably more perky to drive too.

As a reward for not causing me any issues after fitting new DISA valves, I fitted a new Alcantara handbrake gaiter and elbow rest.

Much better than the shiny, worn old leather one.

What heating elements? :-?

I made my own heated steering wheel, this is the third generation of it now! Some more info in this thread, if you like…

Wow! :-o that's a bloody nice idea  now I'll be considering getting something like this done in my e39 as I don't use the Zed during the cold days :D

Looks great! Seat leather in good condition too.

First ever maintenance job on the Z4M today. Swapped out 2 failed horns for 2 replacements. First time jacking this car up and it feels like it is soooo high in order to get the jack stands under. Next job will be sorting a leak in the headlight washer pump or its pipes.
