What have you done to your car today?

Just finished wrapping the aluminium trim in 3M Black brushed metal.

The original trim was a bit bashed up (no idea how people manage to scratch and dent it so much!) so bought some replcaments that wer in better condition but decided I fancied a bit of a change. I'm not one for "modding" so wanted it to look as OEM as possible and I am very happy with the results.

Yeah, it was on the car when I bought it. Its alcantara and looks to be a Royal retrim maybe, not sure.

I have never wrapped anything before but I have built plenty of model cars, RC casr etc, so I am used to paint, decals and stickers. Having said that I did a bunch of research and it boiled down to buying good quality wrap, hence the 3M and not cheapo ebay stuff, and just take your time. I did one peice of trim a day and just didn't rush it.

Wrapping the trim was okay, the 3M wrap is very forgiving and good quality, I didn't need to pull it off and re-peel it as I didn't take the full backing off the wrap in one go, just enough to position it and then slowly apply the wrap, pulling the backing off as I went. Going around the corners is tricky, I applied some heat with a hair dryer and got my wife to hold the trim so I had both hands to manipulate the wrap around the corners. It was fine once you got the hang of it.

Fitting it all was easy enough when you know where all the screws are! Having taken a few interiors apart I wizzed through that in about an hour.

Just my humble opinion, I've already to mentioned the dash looks fantastic earlier. Now I think the silver door handles need to be wrapped to match the dash, leaving the steering wheel silver as contrast. I think that would complete the transformation of the interior and earn you a nice glass of brandy. Again, just my opinion.

Yes I agree. The door pulls for sure I will wrap as they are easy to remove. The smaller silver pulls to "pop" the door open will probably stay as is, and the streering whell also will probably stay as is.... less is more, and it is a slippery slope to wrapping everything and heading down the Max Power route!

. Could be a coincidence, but the rear wheel bearings are grumbling which I think is partly due to the spacers.

I like to avoid spacers whenever possible but it’s rare they’re the source of a problem. That only occurs with lower quality spacers that aren’t hub centric. In my experience, they usually highlight an underlying (pre-existing) issue, such as wheel balancing being off or perhaps in your case the bearings were already on their way out?

Well, that explains the squeaking noise I could sometimes hear when driving at low speed and that would temporarily get away when applying the hand brake... Released the adjuster on that wheel rendering the hand brake useless on that side while waiting for parts to show up and time to be available to do a full handbrake refresh alongside my rear calipers and suspension bushings refresh
