What have you done to your car today?

HUGE shout out to Usel for fitting the seats he refurbished, which are just awesome 110%

Need to swap the door cards over next then it’s just an M badge (on order) for the steering wheel

Well chuffed and Usel is 1 more member on here that I’ve now personally met and is sound as a pound. Genuinely nice bloke    28728010-D909-4A6D-A38E-2581380A7AE1.png873803F6-643B-40FE-BFB4-4BEF56B69F6A.png

It was a pleasure to meet you jock156 and hopefully Enuff_zed will fit the door cards soon

Today I can safely report that I have done absolutely stuff all on my Z4… it’s grey, cold and threatening rain so it remains tucked up in the garage - roof down in preparedness - for another day. Instead I’m reading Classic.Retro.Modern edition 23 cover to cover. Now, if you’ll excuse me…

I just purchased a 2008 Z4 3.0si with the Sport Package from a friend. I detailed the interior / engine compartment / engine, replace the windshield washer pump and topped off the radiator fluid. I then removed the drink holders, washed and reinstalled. I tried to find the Bluetooth sticker to get the pin number to bind the radio / sound system / phone with my Apple iPhone 12, but couldn't find the sticker behind the speaker in back of the driver's seat (as per youTube instructions). I found the plug under the dash to connect my phone via a hard wire. I made an appointment to have the transmission fluid + filter changed and to check other key points. I replaced the two horns.

If you have anyone local with INPA you can pull the pin from the modulef
After several hours of contortions and countless tools, I was able to obtain the first three PK digits on the inverted, hidden label. Through trial and error, I was able to determine the last or fourth digit and bind my iPhone 12 to the car's radio. Good news - hands free phone calls come through the car's bluetooth radio system flawlessly. Bad news - neither my phone's iTunes nor my Pandora app play through the radio system - just through the phone. Is there a setting on either the radio or the iPhone that will allow my phone's music to play wirelessly via the same bluetooth connection over the car's radio/audio system?

New O.E. Sachs shocks, Eibach Pro springs & Lemforder top mounts etc. for the rear yesterday…

Ride height barely changed as old shocks and springs were shot, front still to do.

Refitted the fan shroud with a couple of new T25 Torx screws to replace the one that really didn't want to come out when I fitted a new alternator and drive belt last weekend, also the little plastic clip that holds in the fan - removing that was the single biggest time-suck of last weekend's alternator/drive belt operation.
Main job this weekend was oil change and set of new filters - built one of ph001's decking ramps - worked a treat, didn't even need to go up to the top …thankfully.

They will settle over the next few days then you see the difference in height.

Fitted new water pump and thermostat. Flushed out the coolant with deionised water three times and filled with fresh coolant. At nearly 90k miles now and didn’t know if they had been replaced before, so changed as preventative maintenance. On removal date stamps (06) on both confirm they were the originals.
Found that I didn’t need to turn on the headlights to get the coolant bleeding procedure started as some suggest, just heater fan on 1, temp up max, ignition on and accelerator pedal down for 10 seconds.
Oil change and serpentine belt and tensioner change to do next weekend.

Picked it up from the garage after getting a new starter motor fitted after the old one decided to retire and had the oil filter housing gasket replaced at the same time. Running out of things to replace on this car now

On Sunday my car developed a really loud howling noise from the passenger side of the car every time I got above a speed with an "8" in it, which was pretty annoying while I was trying to keep up on the Z4 National meet. :(

I didn't think any more of it when I left Crooklands this morning, until I found a clear stretch of road and it came back with a vengeance. No way did I want to put up with that on the M40, the super-highway between the South and the Midlands, so I stopped at Warwick services looking for the source of the howl. As I didn't have a passenger I quickly ruled that out, checked brake vents, arch-liners, front undertray, wipers, etc.

Then I noticed the passenger side window wasn't closed properly. Got in, closed it fully using the switch and was able to make proper progress with no howl.

Such a relief to find a free, simple fix for a real headache!
