What have you done to your car today?

That particular splitter is available from Schmiedmann in Germany, they currently have a 10% discount as well

The second link I haven’t seen before so can’t comment on that. There used to be a guy in the US called Composite Steve on the Zpost forum who made a V1 splitter nearly identical to the Schmiedmann design, and a V2 stepped version that followed the contour of the lower edge of the M-bumper. I’ve tried to reach out to him but no response. Worth a try though!

Good to know! I was actually trying to tell if it followed the contour and could get rid of the little stock piece that fits there. Sounds like that is only the one that Composite Steve made.

Finally got round to fitting the power folding mirrors which I bought end of last year, which I've had painted gloss black in the mean time. Unfortunately, the angles between LHD and RHD mirrors vary to a point where I can't successfully adjust my mirrors to a point where I can reasonably use them.

Dilemma: buy a set of regular LHD mirrors (sold mine on to a friend and I didn't want to reneg on that deal despite the inconvenience) and attempt to retrofit the motors from the RHD set, or sell the RHD set and look for an LHD set of power-folding mirrors...

Anyone any ideas on whether plan A can be done at all?

Barty, if it's like most mirrors, you should be able to pop the mirror out and get a look to see about how difficult it would be to swap that motor out. :?

Car went in for mot this morning and failed on the offside rear spring  Thought it looked a bit low last night  Garage will replace both rears, been dreading this as a previous owner changed the fronts to sport springs from Suplex and the car sat nicely, I have the receipt. There are 2 sizes, I have explained this to the garage, he knows this himself, and said I want the same height. He's a good chap so here's hoping. Bit of a worry though as there are lots on AT with uneven heights. :headbang:

Interesting thought, do most people setup their coilovers same height as factory or maybe stock height - so many mm? Not sure if these Z's tend to sag at front or rear or both over time or really not much at all. Thoughts? :?

I do my own alignments, camber, caster, toe-in/out, if I have camber plates installed. How much lowering of these Z's will require an alignment? I recall putting Eibach sport springs on my 2000 Beetle 1.8T, alignment shop didn't change anything on it and it did lower it pretty significantly. :driving:

Busy April continues for my coupe!

Trip to Redish Automotive in Bristol today for a gearbox oil and diff oil service.

I’ve read a lot about Redish online, and they lived up to the hype. Seemed very knowledgeable and helpful, with a real interest in the cars they work on. A really great service.

Cannot overstate the difference it’s made to the car - it’s really night and day! The gearbox feels so much smoother than before, somehow makes the whole car feel even more responsive and refined.

Big shame it’s not part of the BMW maintenance schedule, I have a feeling my car was on the original 14 year old ‘lifetime’ gearbox/diff oil until today as it’s only seen BMW dealers at service time.

Also finally got around to cracking out the metal polish to get rid of the soot of rim my exhausts and bring a little bit of a shine back:

Very nice looking car

Thanks! :) need to address a couple of small bits of lacquer peel, stone chips, etc - so that’s next up. But still think I’m lucky to have bagged such a looker! :D

[ref]j24[/ref], Looking good!

What gear oil did they use?

~Tom

Cheers Tom!

For the gearbox they used Castrol Transmax manual 75w90 gearbox oil.

And Castrol Transmax Axle LL 75w90 for the diff.

Thanks!
It was just in for the gearbox and diff oils this time around.

Very long time user of Castrol oil products, I guess I won't say just how long... :P

Castrol is good stuff! Actually I didn't know about the Castrol Transmax Universal LL 75W-90 synthetic product. I see they have one for the LS diff found in the M models.

I used the Redline products and it also worked well with the diff and tranny.
