What have you done to your car today?

Through an unexpected turn of events, I suddenly found myself with the chance to fit a set of black, heated M-sport seats. While they were perfectly acceptable and very clean (see above), I decided to go all in. So a few spots were repaired, the leather thoroughly cleaned and prepped, and then…

Recoloured the leather, adding a slightly deeper black than the original tinge. After that, a very matte clear coat to protect the newly coloured leather. The end result:

Pictures don’t do the deep matte finish justice; they’re just so incredibly good looking for a 16+ year old set of seats. Very happy camper!

Look stunning, did you spray them? What cleaning products did you use ?

Yes, cleaned off the old protection and prepped with alcohol. Then sprayed a layer of colour followed by a topcoat. The latter you can vary the degree of matte finish. I went for an extremely matte finish given they’ll “shine up” a bit with use.

As for cleaning and maintenance: I use the products by Labo Cosmetica, in this case Derma cleaner and conditioner with a soft brush and mf cloth, and once every 6 months the sealant as well with a soft, foam applicator.

Thought id cut a coupe into slices to see how it looked!!!

Leather wrapped my interior door handle.
I've never liked the look or feel of the plastic door handle and read a mention here a while ago of someone lining the inside of the handle - sorry can't remember who it was, but thanks for the idea
So... one off cut of soft, smooth 1mm Black Nappa Leather, (ebay 20cm x 30cm £6.30) a length of 10mm Faux Leather Piping (ebay 2mtr £3.72) some high temp contact adhesive, a sharp craft knife and a bit of patience :D The joy of using soft Nappa is that it stretches making the double curve on the back of the handle easy to glue without creases. The piping neatly covers the cut edges of the two parts, so it can still come apart. Just ordered another offcut of leather for the other side :)

[ref]Mojito[/ref], I think that’d be me, for the very same reasons as you’ve mentioned. Nice little job!

Today I’ve fitted the seats! The leather came out absolutely gorgeous. Really nice matte finish, they look and feel epic. More pics soon (both are fitted), and a reminder of what once was…

Barty, thanks for the idea - it was indeed you! Whole interior of your Z looks amazing... especially the matte finish on those seats

I had a strange sound from my rear right side, so I checked everything, from the roof to the seat, all the plastic, it was a squeaky sound. So the next step was to put the car on the jack and remove the wheel and I was "happy" to find that my spring was broken.

After couple of years of searching, finally managed to get two tone dash trim to go along the two tone m seat that came with the car.

Thanks Nash!
