What have you done to your car today?

Finally ripped out the old broken red brake light, after a wash at the weekend made it considerably more broken. This was a purchase from a fellow forum member who was breaking his Zed. Had to buy a deep 8mm socket as my standard set was too shallow - learnt the hard way after losing some skin. Well chuffed with it and now matches the clear side indicators I’d swapped the old Orange ones for last summer.

Next job post mot will be a repair of a bit of lacquer peel on the front number and finally getting the gm5 out and sent for repair.

I got the windshield and trim replaced yesterday, mobile service, they also reinstalled the hatch glass that I had off for some rust repair.
They did great work, had it all done in half an hour flat.
First thing this spring I'm going to have the windshield covered with that optically clear protection film.
I'm assuming that black box under the headliner is a GPS?

Good work Rob. It's coming together now. I think the 194's are a great looking wheel, it sits well on them. Lower rotating mass at just over 10kg each, cheaper 17" tyres, staggered 8 and 8.5 inch with perfect et34 and et37 too....think I might look out for a set :D
Keen to see it on the gold 108s though. Did you go for a polished/silver rim on those ?

Not quite today but I have deactivated the headlamp washers as for pre-2009 cars it is not a legal requirement for them to work if fitted from factory. My near side worked but leaked a lot, resulting in the tank being emptied within a day as soon as I tried to use them.

I did it when the tank was empty. I removed the headlamp washer tube and cable tied to the FEM. I left the connector installed as I didn't want corroded terminal pins.

I then removed the fuse to control the pump and put a rubber stop with a jubilee clip as a secondary fix over the headlamp pump output. Now I no longer have washer fluid damped all over my drive!

Today i fitted a new carbon steering wheel along with some 3D emblems from Rigakit. Just got bored with the OEM badges and fancied a different look. I'm happy anyway!!

Got a steering wheel refresh earlier from Royal Steering Wheels.

Went for an OEM spec refresh, really happy with how it’s turned out!

How’s does it feel compared to your old one?

It’s definitely a much nicer feel. The old one was beginning to show its age a little, and get a little rough around the edges - the new leather is lovely and smooth.

I specially asked for OEM specs, and they’ve really nailed it. It feels identical in terms of thickness, and looks wise the stitching, cuts and thumb grips are exactly the same to my untrained eye.

I’d say maybe the biggest difference feel wise is possibly the firmness of the padding… the old one felt like it had a little more give if you squeezed it - not to say the new wheel is rock hard, I’m really happy with the look and feel of it!

Massively impressed with the quality of it for the price - would definitely recommend them to anyone who’s thinking of freshening up their steering wheel.
