What have you done to your car today?

MOT - passed but advised to renew rear tyres soon. Was hoping to get more than 9,000 miles from them (Michelin Piot Sports) but maybe the NC500 had something to do with that

Maybe :tumbleweed:

Congrats on the pass

Great work, I’m liking the colour of the wheels too!

Had the aircon regassed and checked. Lost 145 grams over the last 2 years, so bang on 10% per year which is about the norm. Refilled and ready for the Croatian roadtrip in two weeks

Got around to fitting some Led bulbs to the Z4, been meaning to brigten up the sidelights as the standard 501 bulbs look rather yellow.
Some faffing around getting at them through the access panels in the wheel arches. Plugged the new Leds in and tested them before installing them back into the headlight shell. Nice white colour produced, a great improvement over the old standard bulbs. The Leds were advertised as being canbus error free but I did get a failed bulb light on the dash. Fitted further Leds to the side repeaters, number plate lamps and boot interior light. Then plugged the car into the laptop and coded the bulb check out using BMW Scanner 1.4. Dash warning light no more.
Led bulbs off ebay, UK supplier https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203293895706?mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e11050.m43.l1123&mkcid=26&ch=osgood&euid=a7fa5871f32e4e60af658d2b94069670&bu=43160863814&osub=-1%7E1&crd=20220822115627&segname=11050

Just getting round to refurbishing the vanos unit on my Z4MR that I bought last week, defo needed to be done as there were flat spots on acceleration. Couple of hours in and had to take a break as my back started playing up... Going to be a long night :(

In for an alignment today. Checked over the suspension and bushings, found the cause of a slight knocking noise:

DEEA6E00-7AC4-4CF6-B32D-DDD635C4D56C.jpeg

Upper NS ball joint was worn. New item in and then a full alignment. Blend of M3 CSL and original Z4 configuration, with the rear camber getting a particularly good looking at, since this was fairly aggressive in its setup. Back to -2.05 (was at -3.40) both sides, with a 0.08 toe in. Front toe close to zero and camber at -1.20.

Result: a car that’s more stable at speed (toe-in was out between sides), a rear end that comes round a bit more eagerly under power, and an improved turn in. Zed feels a lot more planted and less prone to tramlining and following input from poor surfaces. Happy days

Fitted the bonnet bump stops I bought from a forum member - cheers Wassup.

Just hope I've put them on the right way round!

There's still a bit of movement at the front edge on the passenger side though, so it looks like time for some more research.

Just spent a pleasurable couple of hours round at Alan's house in Bristol ( @Number5 ) for him to check out and relocate my roof motor on the toledo blue 3 litre. Looked like my motor had been out before and there wasn't too much of a mess in the wheel well but it was sitting in brown water so it was the right time to move it.

Nice bloke, amazingly within a mile of my house, job done - motor sounds better and healthier and roof works flawlessly and speedily too. And nice knowing it's now nice and dry within my boot, behind a hidden partition. Result!

Thanks Alan, big recommendation for anyone needing or thinking about getting this done. :D
