What have you done to your car today?

Mrs Zed still, realised that the trim for an MSport and non-MSport wheel are different at the bottom, although not the sides thankfully.

Therefore required the bottom chrome finish pieces re-finishing in black (from the new Royals trimmed wheel) so thought I might as well do the side trim as well.

In preparation for painting, partially done, not all pieces and not completely prepared;

After 2nd coat of Satin Lacquer has dried. Couple of little imperfections, so will very lightly wet sand and then try another coat or two of lacquer.

Weirdly, they look almost gunmetal in these pic’s, but much more like satin black in real life :?

Had the car valeted ready for the trip down to SW Germany next week.

The fella only charged £30 for the service and spent two hours doing the job. Last time it was as clean Is when I drove it from the dealership.

I can only assume it will rain before I get to the ferry!

I think he probably means M20!

I’ve been googling s20 for ages!

It’s very cost effective for us to sail First Class from the Tyne rather than £110 petrol and £100 for an overnight hotel each way added to the cost of the crossing!

Sounds very civilised - have a great trip.

It’s good to get into Germany and drive at a decent speed when permitted. 90/100 is just nice for this old goat!
Much over that and the speed limiter in the LH seat starts chirping!

Sometimes it has to be ignored.

I'm sure the surgeons and nurses who deal with car crashes on a regular basis agree fully.

It’s a long time since I’ve gone silly speeds.
I will only push on when the RH Lane is empty.

What speed would you say was acceptable on the de- restricted sections of Autobahn - which seem tö be becoming fewer as years go by.

Driving up to Lancaster and back this weekend on the M5 and M6 I have been surprised at how few drivers are going over 70 mph in the outside lane. Mostly the odd van driver. I can remember when, if I was going less than 80 mph an Audi driver would be flashing me to move over. But on a de-restricted road, for me, I would consider 80 or 90 mph to be a comfortable speed for a long motorway trip.

Put the Mrs steering wheel back together.

It’s not 100% perfect, but it’s a million times better and I’m very happy with the result

From here that looks brand new, this plastiKote seems to do really well.

This is Matt black acrylic paint and Satin acrylic lacquer, by Plastikoat… not to be confused with Plastidip, which is the peel-able spray rubber coating which isn’t good for contact areas like steering wheels
