What have you done to your car today?

Replaced headlight bulbs last week to osram cbb and dried out both lenses as I noticed some condensation.

However noticed this morning one bulb was out. After doing some poking around I have discovered there water in the casing which has seeped down into the headlight control module and flooded it. :o

Currently in the process of cleaning it and drying it out.

Not all done today but work done in the last few days was:
-Replaced the spring loaded hood bumpers
-Replaced one of the adjustable trunk bumpers, especially as it was letting water in as it acts as a plug in the water gutter than runs on each side of the trunk lid on E86s
-Took battery out and did a bit of a clean at the bottom of the bow as an old battery had leaked
-Used NCS Expert + Dummy to code L/100km unit on consumption, automatic door lock when moving and mirror tilt in reverse: not happy about the door lock as I need to pull handles twices to get out and it does not reopen all doors at once. Also mirror tilt not working, will investigate more tomorrow
- Cleared all the tools and things stored under the trunk as I ordered a tyre repair kit and a compressor for peace of mind and will need storage space :driving:

At last removed this annoying magnet thing from my dash, carefully with my hot air gun on low setting and brute force. What a difference, nice and clean lines now as it was meant to be.

FINALLY fitted my aero skirts

Only took me 9 months to get around to it
Are those the Skyler skirts?

Nope - these are Real Deal oem skirts that I sourced from Yahoo Japan auctions

Not trying to rain on Skyer’s parade, I’ve heard of a few customers having difficulty with them…

I actually have a set of Duraflex fiberglass aero skirts as well, but I held out for a set of real ones - I couldn’t quite bring myself to install the copies

Today I've changed the air inlet pipe that is prone to splitting. I did it really as part of investigating a squeaking sound I get at idle but only when the engine is hot. It didn't cure the problem sadly but a good job done as the old pipe was in poor condition though had not yet split.

Washers refused to wash yesterday so a little job for today.
Yuk!
Looks like the chap who recently 'left a deposit on an E86', has done the same in your washer bottle.

Same happened to me a few years ago. You'll probably want to replace the control units; they aren't that expensive. The original units have a vent hole on the top of the casing which is where the water got in; the current-day units don't have this so chance of the unit filling with water again.

I've played around with coding a bit more and tidied up and squeezed all the emergency tools around the battery, it'll help keep it in place as the clamps are not really locking it in all directions

Compressor, BMW tool kit, ratchet screwdriver and bits, tyre repair, fuses and jump cables

Looking at the picture made me realise I really need to get the battery vent properly installed (I am currently missing the connector that goes on the battery and the plug needs to be moved on the right side)

Yesterday, after 5 weeks of evenings and weekends and battling poor weather conditions I finally completed my supercharger install. It runs/idles/revs up beautifully. No warning lights,
no codes :D A few more jobs this week whilst it's up on axle stands and hopefully a shakedown run next weekend :thumbsup:20220313_171454.jpg

Works for me. Well it’s a lovely looking fitment, seems to be running smooth and races to the red line. What’s not to like? I hope the road testing goes well - more footage required
