Roof Motor refurbished and relocated to the boot
Was quoted £874 to replace and relocate the roof motor / pump from an Independent BMW Garage in Glasgow.
Quick Google and Forum search brought up The Zed Shed. Read the reviews and the good and bad reviews on here.
Messaged Mike on Monday, phoned on Tuesday, appointment booked for today along with a day off work.
Today I got up before 6am and left here at 6:30am to drive to The Zed Shed. Who knew there was a 6:30am!
M8 > M74 > M6 > Earlestown 226 miles.
Arrived at about 10:15am due to speed limits and a few stops on the way darn sarf into deepest darkest Englandshire.
Car reversed into the garage, boot opened, protective mat put in boot and Mike got into the boot.
Parcel Shelf out, roof motor plastic casing out, roof motor out and Mike out the boot too.
Roof motor was taken apart, cleaned and the casing resprayed.
Back into the boot, roof motor reconnected, relocated and secured in place. Cover put in to hide it.
And that was it. If anything the roof goes down and up quicker than before. Totally impressed with the expertise, knowledge of Z4's and the approach to the whole job from the first message until I left there this morning.
Topped up the tank with Shell V-Power and got back onto the M6.
Averaged around 35 - 37 mpg over 452 miles with speed ranging from 50mph to more than 50mph which I thought was acceptable mpg for a 14 year old 3.0si.
Highly recommend The Zed Shed for any Zed needs as this has saved me spending an extra £500 - 600.
One thing I did notice as it was quite obvious across the border was that there was a complete lack of any Covid information / warnings / updates on the Motorway signage compared to what we have in Scotland.
