What have you done to your car today?

Picked a cr@p day for it yesterday, but piano black dash fitted, some trims resprayed matted black as a contrast. Think it came out alright!
Couldn't of done it without some guidance and a bit of nagging to get it done from Simon3.2M

replacing the fuel tank on my 2003 Z4 to fix the faulty driver side fuel sensor
Finished the replacement and the fuel levels are accurate now. I replaced the Center shaft support, and the vibration dampener while I was reinstalling the driveshaft. Test drive completed, with no vibrations at speed, success

Fitted asker Motorsport side covers when hood is down.

Its the first time I've given her a proper wash in my ownership, clay bar, decontamination etc etc so I was pleased with how she came up.

I was also lucky with lighting, dusk always makes paintwork look good

It's cold, therefore inside projects!
Wrapping interior. Close to getting all the bits together for the storage charging deck.

Now got to get the centre priece out, once I get a dry day above 0 degrees! :D

Yesterday I took mine for its first really 'testing' drive since replacing the engine and sorting some teething problems. This was after hyrdolocking my previous engine in a flood. I'd done about 100 miles in traffic with the odd WOT and higher revs but this was the first time I'd properly pushed it. I'd had a niggle in the back of my mind wondering if I'd done the right thing replacing the engine. Perhaps I should've changed to something else? I've never kept a car this long before. :(
Well that blast put any doubts to bed and rekindled my enthusiasm for this car. If anything the engine feels and sounds better. Nothing like a bit of roof down acceleration out of a few corners and a few well timed overtakes to put the smile back on your face. Although I have to admit it might've been a slightly self satisfied grin! :driving: :crazydude: :trampoline:
Spent the rest of the day trying to flush too many years of crud from my boiler heat exchanger, which was less fun but also satisfying.

Left her at the dealership for the MOT at 10am, forgot to change my show plates to “MOT Day” plates ! Will they fail her ? Have to wait and see :(

The fact that you are asking about your plates indicates they are not road legal. If they have the BS number stamped on them and are not doctored (Screws or bolts fixed to alter the appearance of letters or numbers) Then it should pass the mot

I’ve got a short plate on the front of mine it doesn’t show BS No on the lower right - it passed it’s MOT ok.

It all depends if you’ve piddled about with the digits I would say.

I really enjoyed watching your engine swap thread, so pleased to hear that all is well in the world, well done that man.

Failed on BS marking not present ..... sat in dealership having brought down another set of legal plates which they are going to fit. It passed with the show plates last year at a different garage, the tester even said he was happy that they hadn’t been doctored or altered and were completely legible !

Although it’s a legal requirement, if the digits are all clear then it’s nit picking by the authorities in my opinion.

Well if nothing else, it shows they stick to the letter of the law. Should give you confidence in the rest of the test.

I think they just wanted to sell me a set of over priced plates with an Advert for Sytner on them , lucky I had a spare set !
