Finished off my install of carbon fibre trim

Looks very nice. 2 questions?
How do you get your plastic trim to look so good and do you have any issues with the vents heating the back of the screen?
Cheers
Thanks mate
And to be honest it had a full valet about 2 months back and i haven't touched it since so I can't help you there, must be some sort of plastic conditioner maybe?
And RE the vents, unless it's blowing cold I just have those vents turned off usually  don't want to overheat the screen lol

Only thing that failed was one of the disc retaining screws got stuck- back to that tomorrow to drill the b’stard out
On my Z4 I used a chisel at an angle to tap it round.

On my E91 that didn't work so I ended up hammering a torx socket in

Both likely easier than drilling.

Both times I was using proper tools - never had this on other cars and it's happened to both my BMWs!

You could probably get rubber caps to block off the holes. I'll have a look.
I've ordered these:
https://ebay.us/7zPLEs
I'll let you know how they fit.

Yes please. I am interested to see how they look.

Changed to much better Zimmermann Coat Z sport discs. Looks so much better than the 13 yr old rusty ones!

Looks like they sent you two O/S front discs :x

Ha - I wondered if anyone else thought that. I did, and my god did I check. Strangely these are not handed / sided discs but the drill pattern makes you naturally expect that they are. The internal vents are perpendicular to the circumference and the Zimmermann data sheet states they are for O/S and N/S.

But, I agree they look a little odd.

great job mate  Did you skin the original trim yourself?
I’m planning on doing a load when I take mine off the road over winter. I don’t know wether to sink original parts, or go all in and make moulds. Making moulds will take longer & more expense, but if I master the art I may try larger parts such as the exterior panels. There is a great company https://www.easycomposites.co.uk/ who sell everything you need. They have a Learning Area section with videos on different techniques. One even shows you how to make a car bonnet from start to finish.

Changed the front brakes, pads and calipers. I painted the new calipers and the rears.

Tomorrow will change the pad censor that was fried (didn't throw up a light on the dash) and an oil change.
