How do you accidentally buy a car? Isn't that like accidentally getting married or having a kidney removed :D

I kind of accidentally looked on Autotrader, accidentally called the seller, accidentally arranged to meet him, accidentally gave him money and accidentally agreed to pick up the car next week.

Very accident prone individual. :o

In reality just fancied a 6 Series. They look great and still so modern (like our Z4s). Now that's no accident.

 sounds great. These 6 series still look great even today. Crazy how the design language has stood the test of time.

Not so much “ what have you done to your car today” more what was started before lockdown and finished today.

New discs and pads all round.
Refurbished calipers, finished in gloss black.
New brake lines.
New clips, pad sensors, bleed nipple dust caps etc
New handbrake shoes and springs etc
Clutch delay valve removed
Original registration back on the car with new plates stuck on rather than screwed.
All parts from BMW.

Just needs a good clean now.

Land of horse poo sounds good to me

Finally got around to fixing my crappy handbrake!

Previously the left side adjuster was seized closed (so nearly no shoe contact on pulling the brake).

- Calipers and rotors off both sides
- Adjusters out
- Disassembled and cleaned
- Greased up
- Adjustment procedure

As silly as it may seem, it's so satisfying when I park now and the handbrake is nice and tight. I was having to pull it pretty darn high before - and feel that only one side was holding.

:)

Hi guys .
I recently put a hole in my seat bolster and decided I would have a go at sorting the seat and touching it up .
I got a repair kit off eBay and bought the furniture clinic beige foe the seats .
The hole was as big as my finger nail right on the seam .
After I fixed the hole I set about painting it and got a bit carried away .
Two days later I had completely painted the whole seat 4 coats of paint and it looks fantastic almost like I have a new seat . I even did the hand brake pad and my gear knob from black and chrome to beige and chrome .
The furniture clinic stuff is fantastic .

The last picc I was halfway through painting the seat ,the difference was night and day .The picture doesn't show the true contrast .
The only down side it I will now have to do the other seat . .

Had a go at wrapping some interior trim parts, some went well, another bit ok right up to the last bit so a bit of a cover up job and if it gets to me try again.

Was going to rivet the plates no but changed my mind and stuck them in place.

This is inside the wheel arch? What did the plates replace? An expanding clip thing? Or a plastic rivet?

Not seen a seat base trim covered before. Looks good

The scree/bolt goes through the inner wing liner then the bumper then my plate, the glued in plat is because you can not get your hand in to put a washer and nut in there
The screws replace a plastics expanding rivet

5.5hrs spent yesterday : I painted the calipers and changed the clips as they were grotty. Seeing as the wheels were off I took the opportunity to give them (108s) a clean and wax (the insides on the front took some scrubbing :o ), and I cleaned and dressed the arch liners. I only managed one side for wheels and arches as i was running out of light; so i'll spend a couple of hours on them tonight. :(

I very nearly went luminous yellow as i thought these would look quite good on a black car, but I bottled it and went for a graphite finish instead which actually i'm pretty pleased with - look refreshed but not shouty.

dust caps are a little left over from stickering up the car for a lemans trip in 2016 (don't judge me)

(Intermin) Oil change + air filter + pollen filter. Air and pollen filter were VERY dirty. Also appears that pollen filter was put in backwards by previous mechanic/owner (based on flow arrow direction).

Finally got the OE knob off. That was bloody hard work. Had to sit on the arm rest and pull with body weight to remove.

ZHP knob shorter and quite a bit heavier. Will be interesting to see how it affects the changes.
