What have you done to your car today?

Unfortunately sometimes we don't have a choice but given the chance you are right about mismatching tyres. I currently run mismatched tyres on purpose, rears are pzero and mp4s while the fronts are mp3s and like you mentioned I have fortunately not had any issue with handling.. The reason for the pzero is due to having a nail and stock availability at tyre shops and obviously the fronts always last longer.

I would never run a BMW with mismatched tyres, had so many experiences where it is horrid.
DSC light flashing, not feeling planted, through to feeling positively dangerous.
You can be lucky and be OK, but why risk it on a car like this?

Yes, I did, but I preferred to have them with some texture, either brushed or carbon, as per the original. I dare say there would be a similar amount of prep involved for hydrodipping, especially if it was a high gloss finish?

Guess it depends on the wheels to some extent.
On my 18s I've opted for 15mm rear but nothing on the front.

It does look a little better for it, a bit more than I'd though 5mm would make. My Zito's are 18" Front 8.5" et35 and Rear 9.5" et40". My main reason for fitting them was to get back to as close to the original scrub radius on the front. The original wheels are et29 front, so by fitting these I've got back to close to that with et30 as well as improve the look by filling the arches slightly more. On the rear I've read a number of posts saying et35 was about the limit on the E89 with this wheel width so I followed that advice. Took it out two up on some of the bumpy twisties close to home and its been fine with no arch rub etc.

Yes bud I did.
Cost factor was one reason and thought about the full GrupeM but didn’t want to go down the Alpha N setup.
Plus easy to put back to standard at anytime
 
Fitted aluminium 'M' pedals today, really happy with them actually and not a bad upgrade for £15.
They feel just as nice as the rubbers and I find it makes the heel toe much easier.
I'll be peering out my windows tonight for the m police though!

The 10 day (evening) paint correction and polish project is complete. Working in the garage for an hour after a day in the home office has been very relaxing if hard work.

Approximatel order or play...
Wheel clean, Snowfoam, roof wash, wash, Tardis, Kerosol, clay, final snowfoam and rinse.
2 full passes with Menzerna cutting compound to shift the swirls.
Single pass Menzerna polish,
Quick flick over the Bilt Hamber clenser fluid, just cuz.
2 coats of R222 concourse look wax, 24 hrs appart.
Used deep pile Korean cloths for all buffing duties.

@LordOxygens: Back in the day, it was those wheels on a 3.0si roadie that drew me to to the Zeds... Had gone to buy a used Renault Clio for my wife and picked me up at the station with a ride just like this beautiful Zed. The drive home in the Clio was underwhelming to say the least :rofl:

3 zeds later 4th on the way and still in love...

Taken the DISA valve off to check it and ....... its broken. :(

I have also cleaned the Idle Control Valve as I had it stripped.

It's the one on the left, and in the car it looks the most classy and in keeping with the brushed look. The one on the right is 3M brushed titanium. I didn't want to go with black carbon fibre and the grey was a little bit 'meh'. To me anyway. In the background is a forged carbon wrap which I tried on the car, but wasn't feeling the love with this one. So off we go. Now today I have primered the replacement console trim and will start filling all the nicks and scratches (also cut out the sport hole) before it gets wrapped.

More details are on another thread. If I had the E85 / E86 I think I would have some sort of design airbrushed or painted on that long dash panel.
