What have you done to your car today?

Took her round the block and managed to curb the nearside rear alloy. :x

Currently looking for a wheel and tyre setup that offers some protection from, well, me.

I've just finished changing the sump gasket on my little 2.0 Sport.
OMG.
What a job it was and it took a right old time.
Having said that dropping the subframe wasn't as much of a trauma as I expected. The one 'gotcha' I wasn't expecting was the access to the rear bolts on the oil pan. I just couldn't see how to get at them with a socket.
After much angst came the realisation that there's a half-moon shape metal plate bolted to the transmission that can be removed. From there on it all went ok. Until, after refitting the aluminium underbody tray I had that horrible sinking feeling ..... yep, I'd forgotten to reconnect the steering column universal joint. Much swearing later it was done.
I'm pretty new to heavy duty messing with cars and this was the biggest job I've done so far.
Have to say that the leak had clearly been there for a while! The under tray was filled with disgusting oily sludge .... like a mixture of cat litter and Castrol GTX. Lovely.

Mixed-grill is the way to go! :D I am currently using this combination on the coupe and the roadster:

Mines Titan as well, not considered this before. I've got all gloss black on mine, but yours does look good.
I'm not really a fan of chrome, but the kidneys inside part is only silver... You got a closer shot of the front end, specifically the e85?

Sure.

Not closer, but different angle:

Paid out £360 for rear bearings to be replaced. My mechanic had it for ages trying to work the old ones out! Original 15years old and rusted to hell!

Did you do the job on axle stands? The job itself doesn't scare me, but not sure if I'm keen enough to do it on 2 Halfords jack stands...

Hi,
I did use axle stands but backed them up with wheels placed under the sills and some huge chunks of timber left over from chopping up a fallen tree a while ago.
Also bought an engine support bar ...... about £50 from Ebay. It's very solid and gives real confidence that the engine isn't about to fall on your head. The engine mounts needed changing at the same time and this support bar made it really easy to lift the lump off the mounts. If anyone wants to borrow the engine bar .... I'm just outside Glasgow ..... more than happy to lend it.
I'm really not that experienced at all this stuff and I managed it ok.
I suppose you just need to double or treble up on the safety front to give you some confidence.
I was a bit nervous at the scale of this job but it wasn't too bad and it's great that the underside now doesn't look like there's been an oil spill in the desert! The gunk in the undertray was revolting. And the good news is that there are no drips under the car after a couple of runs. There was also the worry that the main rear seal might have been contributing to the oil slick but it seems good (thank God!).

Resprayed front bumper fitted. :D

Those who may have seen my recent thread on the subject will be quick to spot that this is the standard item and not the Aero which came off.

Well I have only had my Coupe for a few days, bought it off the forum and well pleased with it, apart from the ride.

I managed to live with the run flats for 2 days and 132 miles before I bit the bullet and ordered some Michelin PS4s.

One front and one rear arrived on Monday, helpful! However, the others turned up this morning.

When Blackcircles thought two were lost I was going to send these two back and order more in a profile larger, so 225.45.18 and 255.40.18 rear to get a bit more comfort, but the missing two arrived this morning and being the impatient tit that I am got them fitted anyway. Thought if they are no good I might sell the 108's with the new PS4 fitted and buy some more wheels.

However, they are fine, however BMW managed to give the go ahead to let cars leave the factory on the run flats back then is beyond me. I had a few back in 2004/5 which were truly shocking, 535d E61 etc. and even the later E91's etc. have only lasted a few weeks before the run flats were ditched. But genuinely forgot just how awful they are.

Anyway, now on proper tyres and feels great. :driving:

Just left the coupe for its Mot & although only a 2500 miles since its last oil change its getting some fresh Millers 5w 30 in along with a couple of other niggles sorting , then i'l tax it & get some miles on it :driving:

Built and fitted this gorgeous heat shield for my cold air intake. Wrapped in gold thermal insulation and have seen my mpg go up by 5! (From 22mpg to 27.4mpg) Waiting for a longer trip to see how far up it'll actually go. This is the highest it's ever been since I've had the car (2 years).

Hi. I’m wondering about your intake. Would you recommend it? Does the car feel different and how does it sound?

Not mine but.... Interesting, shall I say
