Wheel nut chrome covers arrived in the post today, fitted this afternoon, lokking better than the rusting bolts and better than painting them.

previous installer went overboard with cable-ties

I suspect mine was also replaced. It was mounted higher up in the drain funnel than I have seen others mounted from the factory.
I managed to break the housing free by getting an arm over the passenger headrest, inside the car. Careful work with a scalpel to then get rid of the cable ties that were holding it all in there.
The motor looked new, nice to know it's now warm and cozy in the boot!

Rob
great idea to have a spare set of wheels for the winter. I put my Zed in hibernation for six months, but it’s a pain to keep checking the pressures & rotating them to avoid flat spots. Might try & pick up a spare set for the winter.

I drive mine all year (usually!) so my winter wheels have all season tyres fitted to them
Rob
What make did you go for on the all season

Changed the plugs yesterzzz.
Couldnt find any record of them being done int last 38k miles ,so sorted.

Washed as it was absolutely covered in bird poo again :headbang:

_20200504_172125.JPG

Then noticed that the centre brake light had broken yet again. This is my 4th or 5th one now. They're just awful cheap plastic things. The clear housing had separated from the black part, so managed to glue it all back together, and a bit of tape just for added stiffness

Looking good ben  those brake lights are not made to last sadly but the rubber seal around the edge looks OK mine seem to perish which then causes the light to come apart I tried gluing the last one back together but as soon as I popped it back on and started to tighten the bolts very carefully the minute it started to seat correctly the whole popped apart again :( gave in and bought another.

I reckon this one will go the same way unfortunately, but the superglue is industrial strength stuff from toolstation. Used it on a few household bits and it sets rock solid, and currently seems OK on the brake light housing. We shall see though  I'm not spending a penny more on the car as its of no use to me anymore. I was meant to start stripping it for parts but the baby turning up means I have very little spare time to do that now :headbang:

Used Gorilla tape to hold my brake light together, previously used insulation tape which failed very quickly. With ample tape applied all around it was a tight fit to get it back in but this time it seated very well and tightened up ok, used a long box spanner to tighten the nuts against the springs.

4 wheel alignment carried out by Simon Thorpe Motor Services

Pulled by an unmarked Police car on the way home as it is still showing as SORNed on the ANPR system and on the DVLA web site but had the E mail to prove tax so good to carry on

 lockdown strikes again - you spending more bloody money

We’re looking at very similar things - I looked a these a while back on another post and was undecided but now seeing them installed. Did all of the additional clips and fixings come with it. I was looking at the matching boot mat too.

I installed a boot mat (not a diamond one) in my old e46 and it caused lots of unwanted movement in the boot. Granted the e46 boot might be slightly bigger but the mat had a 'non stick' finish much like I expect the diamond leather boot mat would have. Worth looking into at the very least. A good idea, but that doesn't mean it works out being practical.

You just trying to push me over the edge and joining you in bankruptcy by dangling a 25%? my willpower’s not the best without that incentive

Kis commented about the boot mat possibly being a PITA because of the finish, what do you think now you’re in possession of the material? Would stuff just slide around on it?

the kit comes with velcro pads and the underside of the mats so will not move..... the top of the material is no less slippy than a normal carpet and they are waterproofed... its a Really nice material, abit smelly tho! buy buy buy! 5 of my customers have purchased since i posted the video LOL

Pulled the Disa valve out of the 2.5 just to check its condition, all was well, no sign of it breaking around the centre pin and quite clean, all rubbers in good condition. Probably going to give the CCV system an overhaul pipe from cam cover looking a bit sticky inside, blew down the pipe and seems to be free flowing, overhaul probably due since the car has 93k on the clock.
