What have you done to your car today?

A balmy 10c here in Aberdeenshire with clear blue skies so it got it's first proper top-down run around some back roads. Had the seat heaters and cabin heater on but it was all good. Also took off the MV2 Winter wheels and tyres and put my 107s back on.

Had an early stroll out for some fresh air in Cardiff Bay this morning whilst it was quiet.

Followed by a bit of washing and fettling this afternoon

Mr Tidy some reading for you: https://www.m5board.com/threads/h-r-spr ... ff.167326/

Thanks for that - sort of! They seem to be too firm for M5 owners too.

I know what you mean about the stiffness being determined by the diameter of the wire, but my thinking is that if a spring is at least 20mm shorter than stock it's bound to be stiffer to keep the car off the bump-stops if nothing else!

And thanks for the offer of a comparison.

In the meantime I waited until all the shoppers had hopefully got home and around 5 I went for a 20 mile drive with no particular destination, but it was essential for my state of mind! I felt much happier when I got home.

Fitted the boot cover with three bolts on each plastic hinge / feels great to have the cover just click into place without wobbling all over the place.

Whilst fitting the cover I noticed this green stud with a petrol pump symbol on it - I’ve actually never noticed it before. Am I to assume there is some manual release for the filler cap under there - or something similar?

Yes, typically speaking, if a manufacturer is supplying a shorter spring as an aftermarket part for a specific model of car, it will generally need to be stiffer for the reasons you've stated. The beauty of coilovers, however, is that you should be able to specify exactly what spring stiffness and length is on your car. It does sound as though H&R have gone rather overboard on the stiffness increase with the standard issue springs for your kit though.

Don’t know how many will agree with me, but I’ve been told by my paint shop to not even use a car cover in my garage coz it’s bad for the paint. They told me it needs to breathe. So God knows what cling film will do to it!

Gave her a bit of a spring clean and top up ready for the MoT tomorrow. :D Just time for a quick drive before I drop her off. :driving:
