What have you done to your car today?

Fitted a new oil filter housing gasket as the original 14 year old one had sprang a leak, the oil filter housing itself was a doddle to work with, getting the altenator in and out was an absolute pain in the arse though. Finished with an oil change to get rid of any gunk that might have gotten in while I was working. Tomorrow is replacing the side lights, possibly CDV valve and a good clean and polish.
is it possible to change the oil filter housing gasket without an oil drain? If so do u loose much oil?

Yep absolutely possible. As long as the engine is cold all the oil has drained far below the level of the gasket. I lost a mere few drops of oil.
cheers stig nice 1 mate.

Insured mine today: went with AXA, limited to 4K miles and 5 years no claims: £240. Also started ordering service bits including front track control arm rear bushes.

Took delivery of the front wishbone rear mounts ( Polyflex) and contemplating getting them done at my local chap and a fresh sump of oil at the same time. Its been 2 years since the last change and wouldnt hurt to get them done at the same time. Maybe next month...........

Dropped it off at the Indie to find the clunking noise. Of course, the weather was cold and raining, so the car wouldn't do it's party trick. Seems to do it most noticeably when warm (the car and the weather), but not strictly always, so I thought they could hopefully find it while it was in their possession.
Nope. The little b*stard Zed wouldn't play, and at the end of the day they told me to pick it up as they couldn't find anything.
On the up side, they didn't charge me for their time and said to bring it in when it was definitely playing up so they could have a better crack at it. Nice guys  .

Dropped car into Sheffield Indie Newhall BMW yesterday .
It's had a new oxygen sensor plus checking the Vanos

Drove to work yesterday, 130 miles round trip. It was a chance to stretch the fine young girls legs, and also to test my newly attached stubby (OEM). I was amazed. Only once did I have a minor reduction in signal, and that lasted for less than 30 seconds, whereby it picked up a closer signal. It was in a deep rural area, wher my other car cannot get much of a signal at all.
It's great, and frankly cannot understand how others poo-poo it's reception capabilities. The only thing is, I did change the base at the same time. Maybe that has something to do with it?

Had mi new to me Z4 checked over and oil change at Darren Woods, as usual excellent service

Ordered a new rear brake light, bonnet badge, rubber air thingy, booked in for mot, new spark plugs and brake pads and getting interior trimmed in Bentley burgundy leather.

Got the new (angle eye) bulbs last night, fitted them, fixed the broken xenon projector connector (dip plug) in the LHS headlight (damaged while removing the xenons for cleaning), put the lights back on the car, polished both to remove the oxidation, put the front back on ready to go for the morning. Also used a rather useless hand pump to get enough air into my RR tyre to get me to the service station - tiring stuff! Clean xenons are now as awesome as they should be, angel eyes are underwhelming but there is a seperate thread for that .....

Got to the garage his morning and pumped up my flat tyre then went and bought some new tyres for the back (Falken FK510s) and got a wheel alignment. Both made a noticeable difference to the car - happy days!

Forecast looks good for the weekend, so I think a drive around the Port Hills in is order to run in my new tyres; can't wait - kid at Christmas syndrome :driving: :driving:

Just about to wash it & spotted this:

And then this :o

It's totalled & split right down the middle. Bought in January this year & fitted it around the end of February complete with new springs & nuts. Genuine BMW but bought on eBay. I thought the new fittings were supposed to stop this happening ffs  :headbang:

This looks safe right?
Nice try, but I see a box on wheels with lots of seats on the horizon...

Ha ha well luckily this isn't my daily driver. It might just spend a little more time in the garage.

A little more time in the garage may have prevented the whole issue :D
