What have you done to your car today?

Cancelled the KW v2 as got tired of waiting so had the Eibach and B4's fitted this weekend.

Only done 70 miles, so I'm hoping they've bedded in and I can get it aligned to CSL spec.

Previous posts always state that with Eibachs the rear is only slight drop compared to the front, but for me I think its been the opposite.

Also the drivers side to me seems slightly lower than passenger side

Before Pic on standard Si Sport set up.

Next jobs are to red tint the tail lights, gloss black wrap the roof and lower front lip rubber spoiler.

I fitted rear eibach springs today and noticed that the bottom of them were chamfered. Maybe your passenger side spring is needing rotated. Just a thought.

I found the NSF was sightly higher after fitting eibachs , but 200 miles down the road and they seem to have settled flat now. Bit weird , but thought it was the garage floor or drive was the issue , but all is fine now. Having got mine set up, the guy said to give it a 1000 miles for the springs to settle in. Interested in how the B4's shape up as considering those at some point

B4's are on my list too but just forked out for 2 new wings so the shocks will have to wait for now. Car is on coilovers just now but there was a really annoying clinking noise coming from the rear. Swapped the springs over and the noise is gone.

@Thrustyjust, So would you suggest waiting 1k miles before alignment, surely during that time it would lead to incorrect wear of my newish Michie tyres.

I was really worried about the same thing and tyre wear , which is why I wanted to get the alignment done straight after the swop. The guy , Nick at the Alignment Centre in Southampton, as per my post earlier , when I got there said about 1000 miles to let the springs drop. A/ was too late to know this b/ I didnt want to wear my tyres. Not a big issue as he said come back after the 1000 and we will see what it has moved to.
Having had Eibachs on a Focus ST and at first not realising it was chewing the rear inside tyre egdes, Eibach did a camber bolt kit to fit the Focus, so I fitted them and re-adjusted to stop the wear. The Focus did drop on the springs over time as well.
It seems most of my geometry issues were on the Beemer with big rear toe in, for some reason and he did lessen the camber on the rear a bit, which was my main worry.
For the sake of £50 , I dont mind spending it again, as tyres are more expensive than that anyway. So, now I have ordered new poly front wishbone mounts and need to stick another 750 miles on it and head back down to Southampton . :driving:

Fitted a new oil filter housing gasket as the original 14 year old one had sprang a leak, the oil filter housing itself was a doddle to work with, getting the altenator in and out was an absolute pain in the arse though. Finished with an oil change to get rid of any gunk that might have gotten in while I was working. Tomorrow is replacing the side lights, possibly CDV valve and a good clean and polish.
is it possible to change the oil filter housing gasket without an oil drain? If so do u loose much oil?

Yep absolutely possible. As long as the engine is cold all the oil has drained far below the level of the gasket. I lost a mere few drops of oil.

My maths reckons her birthday might clash next year too :poke: , bring her along, it's a great day  . Local to me so I just pop down on the Sunday. I know what you mean though, I've probably spent as much as she cost in the last 2 years but you know the score

Finally managed to have a look (but no drive) of a G29 yesterday. As others have said, looks a lot nicer 'in the flesh', but still too expensive for me at this time.
While at BMW I got to talking to the sales guy about my E89, he offered to check the VIN to see if there were any airbag recalls due. After calling up the relevant info from the VIN he said "hmmm... that's interesting." With a sense of dread I asked what was so interesting and he said that their records showed that the car had been fully serviced in Japan by BMW from new, and every service was bang on time. This is fantastic news as usually with Jap imports it's a bit of a gamble as they rarely have any sort of service history available. Good that BMW were able to share this info, and it means that everything should hopefully be in order, other than general wear & tear for the mileage.
Having said that, it's back to the Indie tomorrow for further diagnosis of the clunky suspension (or whatever it is). They had it last week and thought they heard something, but that it was coming from the back of the car, not the front. Really frustrating fault, but I'm sure given enough time and money thrown at it, we'll find the cause and get it fixed....
