What have you done to your car today?

It shouldnt matter if he was driving or not he is in charge of the vehicle.

Is that right? They have the details of the car inc. reg number, and the car was insured, but am concerned the owner might just say it wasn’t him, and that he isn’t liable.
Its got to be. What if he wasnt even in the car or near it but the door blew open in the wind and caused damage, its still his car that caused the damage and his and his insurances responsibility.
The same goes for if a passenger opens a door and causes an accident, the driver is responsible for anybody in the car as well.
I was knocked off my bike years ago by a passenger opening their door. My lawyer (who was hopeless) said it would be difficult to claim as it was a passenger, I told him to get a grip and chase the drivers insurance. The long and short of it was I won my case.

Hopefully will be simple. The fact that he didn’t give details at scene doesn’t fill me with hope. Have to pay £850.00 excess upfront, claimed back if he doesn’t counter claim. Might wait and see what the outcome is over next week.

Tempted to request registered keeper details from DVLA just in case

Go on askmid and check hes insured using the reg no. At the very least if its insured you have a reasonable comfort factor. with the vehicle insured there's someone who holds that policy that's accountable (as other have said). Your insurance can do the rest from there and get hold of the company that issued the policy. The un-gentlemanly cowardly w@nker wont really be able to swerve it due to the photos your partner took. good quick thinking on her part!

He comes up as insured on MID and my insurance company says he is as fault, and is insured. But I don’t know if he will dispute it. Anyway hopefully will be fine. Just could do without this bollocks

When I bought my z4 recently it didn't come with the wind deflector fitted. So I removed the roll bar hoop covers, installed the ones with holes drilled for the wind deflector, and installed it.

Not a great deal, I know, but it was on the list of things I wanted to get done, and I figured it was as good a place as any to start.

I know what you mean. Rationally though I dont think he really can have any defence for this, especially with the photos so hopefully his insurance will just settle

Don’t forget to also register it with the police, as you are obliged to report all RTA’s.

This specifically covers you in the event the Muppet walks into their police station and claims some moronic woman crashed into his car in a Z4, swore at him then drove off before he could do anything, refusing to give any details!

Also, does she have any independent witnesses??? as these are key in protecting your NCB & not going 50/50

It sounds like the guy has either been banned from driving or not the owner of the car... but be ready for lots of trouble

Totally blasted the nuts out of her on the Welsh run it was great and organised really well big up you guys  and the weather held out all day bonus :D 20190428_111253.jpg20190428_111239.jpg20190428_095232.jpg

Reported to police. Will be following up with them to ensure it gets looked into, since an offence was committed.

I agree though. Not sure if we are just pessimists, but this stinks of a long drawn out issue where he just lies to his insurance.

Are you starting to regret the idea of breaking? I know I am!

Facelift front bumper for my Maldives Blue Z4 is finally all sprayed up and looking sexy!

Soon be time to build her back up and I can’t wait!

Hi Hutch,

I see you have your front end off. Could you please do me a favour and quote a part number for me?

The grille surrounds on mine are broken on both the front grilles and the bits that are broken are the inside surrounds i.e. the part the outer grille snaps onto. Previous owners must have forcefully fitted and removed grilles before.

Its very difficult to take a picture as it is only properly visible with the bumper off.

I have pulled them away just a bit to take the pics.

Thanks and GL on the rebuild.
