What have you done to your car today?

[ref]freeriderdave[/ref] that's really surprising to hear! Does the Sport button still have a marked effect on the throttle response? Definitely money well-spent if it's made such a big difference :)

Yeah the sports button still adds that extra oomph.
Everyone has varied opinions about remapping but in my case its definitely made a difference.

Only had one key when I bought her & at 15 years old the battery must be getting past its best. Finally decided to buy a new one & I'll rotate the two to keep them charged. Bought from the stealers so I'm £162 poorer now :headbang: .

Very Ouch!

I got a flip-style key cut and coded by a guy in Cheshire whose name I won't mention just now, but it only cost £80 in late 2016!

It doesn't have a rechargeable battery, but as a result it can be opened up easily when it needs a new 2032 cell put in.

Took my e85 3.0 up for a remap. Was not gonna bother as I'd read some not so good reviews. The tech told me there were some markers that it had been mapped before. But to be honest i didnt feel like it as low to midrange was rather disappointing.
Anyway, got the stage 1 remap done using a Celtic turning map.
All i can say is wow! The low and midrange has been transformed. Just a whiff of throttle and now it pulls like the train i always imagined it would be.
Almost feels like the sport button as been pressed! Very impressed. Maybe my Z4 was badly tuned previously. But to me a vast improvement. Allegedly now at 251 bhp and 240 ft lb. Not bothered about the figures. Just massively improved drivability. Plus i got the remap cheap. Best 210 quid ive spent on the car. :driving:
Just wondering where they are located, thats a good price so very tempted myself to get mine done too,did yours get done on a rolling road?

Very ouch indeed. I went to said place in 2017 to have my roof motor revived & relocated in a bit of a panic tbh as I'd only had the car 10 days. I had planned on returning for a key & possibly more. Such a shame things have turned to shite for that guy :o .
Not sure what BMW were thinking having a fixed rechargeable battery in a sealed case but I reckon 15 years for a rechargeable battery of this size is quite amazing tbh. Building / repairing PC's for a hobby surprises me even more. Now I have a new key I may open up the original & solder in a new one, but while it's still working it'll be interesting to see how long it'll last. .

Mine was a one off deal deal through a mate. There are various tuners who use Celtic tuning maps. Give em a Google.

I’ll check them out thanks

Vacuum pump O ring seals changed
Oil and oil filter changed
Re fitted the under tray and side bits after repairing them best I could as the main dealer wanted £181 each for new ones

Then changed the gear box and diff oi in my 1 series

Went to check the fluids, and the bonnet safety catch was very sticky.

Got the WD40 and an old tooth-brush on it to get all the accumulated crud off, and now it works smoothly.

Minor issue, but still very satisfying.

Lovely car but there are 2 issues:

1) your nearside headlamp looks like it's currently holding an obscene amount of water :o

2) the people in the 3rd photo are wondering wtf you're doing

Thanks, its been a bit unloved by previous owners so needs a little pamper every now and then.

I need to look at both headlamps, luckily they are not swimming its only condensation. Im hoping its the seal around the door on the back of the light and I can just dry it out and replace the seal. Might need to get to it sooner rather than later as its MOT time soon.

They were probably looking over thinking why does such a small car need 2 spaces lol.

Ridiculously expensive aren't they :headbang: . What did you use to do the plastic repairs? Mine's on my to do list.

Looks like you've done a great job on yours

Where are you?

What I did was removed it from the car sanded the area I glued (I used ABS pipe glue free from work) and some building cladding sheet steel that is plastic coated. I then bent and shaped and trimmed the sheet steel to fit drilled it and the plastic to take some pop rivets had to use 5mm ones as that is all we had at work (bit over the top) prep'ed it all for the glue and put plenty of glue on put it together and pop riveted it up allowed to the glue to harden over night and fitted back on the car it is not perfect as there are a couple of silly little bit missing but loads better than it was as the front bumper now no longer hanging down, as it had had an argument with a road hump or something, probably before I got it.

The little splits and cracks I just sanded the area and laid pretty of glue in and hope for the best if in a few months it comes loose (the glued only bits I may try a different type of glue)

Maybe I should have done a how to given the cost of new ones and most second hand ones are a little broken at best.

Looking at your in the picture you can remove it from the car and make a cardboard templet and then use a bit of 1mm alloy sheet and pop revet it and it would be fine unless most of the little brackets are damaged as well then you are into lots of fiddly repairs

Yeah, I was thinking of metal sheet, pop rivets & some ABS glue. My bumper is damaged but I have a spare to fit so when it's off I'll tackle the side piece. Thanks for the info. . I'm near Derby btw.
