Polished 1 headlight, why just one? Ran out of time..

That looks great! What did you use, out of interest?

Cheers, I used quixx headlight restoration kit (£10 on amazon)

Basically it includes all the bits you'd need to clear the headlight manually (polish agent, rubber block, sand paper (2000,3000,5000) and a lens sealer.

The kit should last for a couple of headlight restaurations (no I'm not on commission)

Finally get to add something meaningful here after a 300 mile round trip to see Mike at the ZedShed...

1. ABS Pump refurb - Had the dreaded amber trio on the dash for a while.. On the plus side I got used to driving the car properly with no traction control or ABS but Mike sorted that in under an hour ready for winter.
2. New Water pump - Preventative maintenance, my coupe is 10 years old with 56k miles.
3. Engine/Gearbox/Diff - Oil Changes
4. New spark plugs
5. CDV Delete - I wasn't sure about this, Mike talked me into it and I'm very glad he did, this combined with new oil has vastly improved gearchanges
6. Backbox Mod - Car now sounds as it should have done from the factory plus a few more pops... :D

Jamie from this very forum turned up too, had a good chat with him and he happened to have some exhaust tips in his boot which are now on my exhaust...!

I can't say enough about Mike, his knowledge of the zed problems and how to cure them is incredible. This trip saved me a fortune over going to the dealer. I feel a lot happier about the condition of my car now, Thank you Mike!

After umming and ahing as to whether to leave off the hardtop this winter or even to sell it :o I decided to put it on. I can always change my mind and take it off - selling it seemed a bit drastic and irreversible

I’d keep that on just for the looks!

:D in an ideal world I'd do a 'Taz' and have one of each :driving:

Thought I would practice on the E90 before tackling the splitting paint on the E85. I forgot to fold the edges back during masking and now have tape lines to sand and polish out

The e90 looks really good! :) Did you do this with rattle cans? Fade out thinner to blend?

Your car looks the dogs bollocks Sir Jora, keep the hardtop

Well anyone who went to the Ace Café meet will remember it rained virtually all day.

My driver's side wiper blade was leaving a strip about 2" wide uncleared, so I bought a new blade.

No wonder it was hopeless - this is how the old one looked when I took it off today! :o

Yes, disappointing as I only bought it as one of a pair in June 2016 - won't be getting those again (from Amazon).

Good news with your headlight rear cover - and good luck fitting that.

Honestly I don't think I've done anything special, however I'll type it out as it might help?

Started off by wiping the lens down with some paper towel and windolene.

Then used the kit, didn't follow the instructions 100%, I started off using the polish agent over the whole lens, mainly horizontal, but when I felt like it I'd make mister miyagi (karate kid) circles. And vertical as well over the most affected areas. (Spent about 15 minutes on this per light)

Used the 2000 for quite a while, only on the badly damaged portions. Alternating between horizontal and vertical movements. Followed this by doing the same with 3000 (and slightly widening the area). Lastly used the 5000 for quite a while as its obviously the finest paper and I kept expanding the treatment area as to not have an obvious overlap. Between that and unsanded areas
(as I didn't find it necessary to sand the whole lens down in my case)

Rinsed the headlight a couple of times during the sanding process with water (as to remove micro plastic and sandpaper residu)

Again at the end using the polish stuff over the whole lens and interchanging between horizontal/vertical and circular movements. Think I might have done this step twice?

Rinsed it off with water, dried with paper towel.

Applied lens sealer,
Left the lens sealer for 10-15 minutes

And wiped this off, again using mister miyagi circles. Probably spent about 1-1,5 hours per lens though..

Todays result of the other lens, perhaps it helps?
