What have you done to your car today?

polished the headlights to remove some cloudiness, re-stained and re-finished the drivers seat bolster, added door pin surrounds to match the gear knob and hand brake, put my black with red piping mats in.

Took it for an MOT and it passed.

Unfortunately it got 2 advisories for the rear brake pipes. :( It's where they pass under the floor just in front of the rear wheel. BMW put a plastic cover on them but it looks like it may just catch road crap!

Now I need to work out how to get under the car with no garage or decent jack (I've already got the Hammerite as my E46 had a similar problem last year)!

I can't understand why manufacturers still use steel brake pipes - kunifer is the sensible alternative and especially so in such a safety import area.
It's an option I would tick even if it was and extra £100 on the order form!

Does that pin surround stop them rattling?

Mine do. Bloody annoying!

Took #108 for an MOT - flew through, no advisories. Not bad for a car on 118k and 13 years old..... so will give her some pampering this weekend :)

Unscrew the pins. Wrap a few turns of insulating tape around the pin so it fits snugly but doesn't bind in the hole. Screw back in place. No rattles !

Good idea, I am sorting the squeaky handbrake out this weekend, so the pins will be a welcome diversion!

Got home, fitted the remote bass volume control for the sub speaker in the boot, ripped out the mic from the media bridge cus it be fooked, ordered a replacement mic. Cleaned and polished the headlights.

Removed rear wheels & discs and lubed the handbrake mechanism, which stopped the squeak.
Then went for a spin and it sounded like a steam train, chuffing down the road. Seem to be coming from the err off side. Spent the whole afternoon removing the wheels and putting them back on to see what it was. Want rhea spacers. Wasn't the dust shields. Eventually put the rear wheels on the front and the noise moved there. It was the type of run flats tyre I have! Really noisy chufchifchuffchif as I drive down the road. Looks like I need to dump them and get some none run flats. Shame, they are almost new!

Cleaned out my windscreen washer bottle, while swmbo watched Wimbledon on the TV.
How the other half live eh!
