What have you done to your car today?

sealed up the drivers side headlamp unit cover with some silicone cos it was lookin like a fekin sauna in there.
dropped some fresh dry towels under the carpet under both seats.....cos it was feelin like a saturated sauna in there.
where the fek is the water comin from. car's only sat outside the house most of the time these days! sigh.

Removed rubber bungs and checked drain holes were clear, Wash,Wax and Painted the calipers on my Z :D

did you handpaint the calipers with a brush or did you use a spraycan? Im planning on doing my calipers in red and debating whether to brush or spray.

Got my new red and grey door cards to match the new Sport seats that I fitted last week. They are in minty-mint condition so I'm really pleased; thanks to Mike [DLV] for the lead on these.

I got the seats themselves from Matt Bippulph at Classic Car Breakers (highly reliable and recommended). I noticed last week that he was selling matching red gearknob and handbrake gaiters that the original owner had trimmed to match the seats. I bought these too so will fit these next week. Result.

I got a bit bored and decided to do the DISA rebuild using the i6 Automotive kit. Really nice quality kit and easy to fit:

I wasn't bored enough to fit the i6 VANOS rebuild kit that also arrived this week. I was working on a friends MX5 until late last night changing from coilovers back to OEM suspension so I am fresh out of energy. Might sneak in a quick 10K later tonight though..

Last night I built this ramp so I can get the jack under my car again and give the wheels a deep clean and repaint the brake calipers.

Nah, that's a excuse to get a new low profile jack :fuelfire:

Low profile jack! Why didn't I think of that! :headbang:

. . .

That interior looks great - you did well finding such clean seats and the door cards too (with DLV's help)

Had a weeping expansion tank this week so changed it yesterday, whilst I was in there I changed the rad too. New coolant and a good bleed and she's back up and running :)
Changed the rear wishbone bushes this week too, the poly replacements have transformed the handling.

Told you he'd sort you out!

Let me know how you get on with the VANOS Dameon, it's on my list...

Nice match with the seats. Looks cool.

Dredged up an old thread (as you do while browsing the forum) and I managed to find a solution to the reverse gong/chime/audio notification when the gear is selected. Not to be confused with PCD noise... anyway I unscrewed the trim under the steering wheel and popped the relevant cable. All good

This is a link to the thread I found for reference (image also taken from there as I forgot to take my own!)

Gave her a nice bath and Hoover today. I hadn't realised how much dust was sat by / in the roll bars so was pleased to get that out.

Also managed to fish some coins out that were caught in the ashtray lid hinge, stopping it from opening more than 15mm. Was worried it would be a break the lid off and replace jobby so pleased with that :D

Sat on my little stool UNDERNEATH the Zed, happily changing all of the rear bushes, well almost - But I'll post in the relevant forum for that..

Nothing technical  - just took it on a 70 mile round-trip!

Got another reminder of what a great car it is. :driving:

Had to put some Super Plus in it before I got home though. :(

Yesterday really but:-
Took the car out thro Weardale /Allendale and realised just how fast a 35is is !
Only 1600 miles up so no max rpm and throttle but it's nippy

Nice little hydraulic lift! Slightly jealous! :|

Had it aligned, again..

Replaced all the rear bushes so it was miles out.

Looks like this now, I deliberately went for max front camber btw..

Mike

I've researched in depth regarding alignment and by all accounts running at Zed M spec i.e. 1.5 camber on the rear is better... 2.5 is overkill

Just a quick clean and polish today ahead of a drive tomorrow!
