What have you done to your car today?

Gone in for an oil service. 330 miles since it had insp 2 service 12 months ago :)

Wow, that's proper low milage.
And there's me questioning the worth of maintaining a Zed to do 3000 miles a year.

After 18 months searching for the wires to connect my footwell lights, no wires found. So decided to wire them from scratch taking supply from centre cabin light. Switch on with doors and centre light switch and fades out a treat. Whilst I had trim and covers removed, fitted cruise control stork and ran all wires of loom to their respective places before refitting covers. Next weekend will be battery disconnection and final connections. Ran out of daylight today. :x
After that need to book a trip up North to get roof motor relocated and cruise control a try out at the same time.

Just curious, what model do you have? I have previously assumed all zeds would have something as basic as foot well lights, clearly this is not the case? If so that's really pathetic on BMW's part! Can't believe they're not standard on all models. :x

Hi MACK. It's a 2.2i 2005. The lights were in their hole in the panel above both footwell's. Came across them by accident whilst cleaning. Thought bulbs had gone. Dropped the lights out and not connected. Apparently the car should have the plugs on the loom tucked away somewhere. Had all covers off several times and carpet back. No wires or plugs.

Stretched my technical skills!

Swapped the boot light for an LED one so I can actually see what is in it, then fitted new dust caps with BMW logo.

Should sleep well tonight - I'm worn out!

Does seem rather pathetic of BMW to install all the kit but deliberately disable it! At the end of the day your car was north of £20k 10 years ago not a cheap car even at today's prices.

changed the colour of the new wheels I bought last week from Hyper Silver to Metallic Gunmetal

Today I've mainly been fitting a smart top module to my e89, couple of trim panels off in the boot & messing around with connector plugs and wrestling with the loom :)
All tidied away neatly and working as intended :P

Car is going back on the road 1st March, and hasnt been touched since it was driven back from France on the 30th October.

I like keeping my car clean, but also don't like putting wet cars away, especially for long period of time, so the zed went into hibernation, dry but dirty.

Pic first thing today, magnetic plate removed, gives you a good idea.

Snow foamed and left to dwell.

Rinsed. Car now about 99% clean without even touching it.

Finished.

I finished painting the grills today and fitted them, please with the outcome, the plastic dip finish is good for grills. While the were exposed I coated the 2 bars behind the grills where the original black paint had worn away. I still have the original Chrome/silver grills to swap back to should the mood take me.

Ordered new pads and discs for the rear to change over this weekend. They arrived mid week but driving to work Friday morning I knew there was more to do!.

Just before arriving at work I hear an almighty noise ( sounded like a stone hitting the drivers window) . After investigating I couldn't find anything wrong. Thanks to the forum I knew it had to be a rear spring. The ride height not changing threw me a little, i have to admit.

New MTEC pads and mintex pads fitted today and the culprit showed itself.

Ill post my concerns on the Discs after I've spoken to the supplier first though!!

After a couple of weeks, finished refurbing the wheels I got from z4m! Took a while but I'm happy with the result. Total material costs - £37.

Now the main thing, the car drives so much better on 18s! It's hard to believe tbh, it feels great! Other than the fact that the rear spring snapped, so that needs doing now.. !

Think my CSL Reps will soon be going for sale

Saw anti freeze on my engine under tray.Stuck my hands in the engine bay, engine cold, and found thermostat housing leaking. Off to garage tomorrow
