What have you done to your car today?

So all the parts I needed for my steering conversion have arrived, except the bolts I need!

Seems Royal Mail have let me down, they were posted last Thursday and still no sign of them appearing, so might have to re-plan the weekend!

Erm, we expect FULL details!!

Mike

Well, my missing bits arrived with the postie yesterday morning so I got to work. Not many photos at the minute, but first job was to take the seats out and tidy them up out of the car, that way I could leave the colourant to dry all day and night. Removed the airbox and fan to give myself some more room, car up on the ramps to remove splash guard and reinforcement plate, then jacked up off the plate to get the wheels free. Bit of a pain but it worked!

Detach intermediate shaft at both ends, slid off very easy which makes me think it may have been the cause of the rattle! Old rack out, swap tie rods over (mine had only covered 2k miles), refurb purple tag rack in. Centred everything and fitted the Z4M intermediate shaft, all good!

Plumbed up all the piping, unfortunately due to space restrictions the cooler is going to have to sit behind the radiator near the bottom, as there's no other place to mount it without stripping the cooling system out. Pipes aren't long enough to go under the radiator, an oversight on my part but it should be fine. Will monitor and see!

Anyway that's as far as I got yesterday, can't prime the pump or fill the rack yet as the seats are out, so the battery is still disconnected and the engine can't be cranked to get the fluid moving.

Today's plan, drop the column and detach the motor, then see if I can remove the pinion easily. If not, it may end up getting cut off! I can't see that causing particular issues?

Start a new thread and I'll reply in that about pinion!

Only just seen this mike, and unfortunately the grinder has already had its workout! Ah well, hydraulic system seems to be working nicely, still got steering warning light mind so will have to get that coded out, either figure it out myself or be asking you to sort it when I come over

Fitted two chrome exhaust tips this weekend, didn't quite fit so had to make a few adjustments.

Changed my lollipops. Took me longer to find my damn tools than it did to do the job.

Highlighted a small oil leak under the pan I need to sort though.

Picked my car up from the garage.
Replaced the diff pinion seal.
£322  had to be done but now means my aeros purchase will have to wait at least another month :(

Changed over the first of my sports seats onto my electric base and fitted into car. Second to do tomorrow after work.

Looking good Andy

Cheers mate!, not doing any spray painting of grills and badge today off to the pub in a bit can feel
a right few jars being slid down tonight after the week ive had :D

And the next little bit between rain - paint cross brace things behind radiator black (original paint was flaking off) and install new all black grilles...

Not so much what I've done, but srhutch fitted my cruise control loom for me today whilst we had a chat. Didn't take long at all and you wouldn't know it wasn't fitted when it rolled off the production line.

Haven't had a chance to make the most of it yet but will be great on long motorway stints.
