Sold it. The 2.2 that is. Pending successful MOT, to a young lad from Corby called Dan.
I've pointed him in the direction of the forum already.
Oh, and he loves those wheels. :D
So now I need to retrieve the 'on loan' freeleeta and get that sorted!

What’s the spec/ colour of the 3L???
It's this one.
Auto, heated memory seats, folding mirrors, satnav, cd multi-changer.
Got a few issues. Passenger door outer handle doesn't work, front and rear bumpers both slightly misaligned, alloys need a refurb.
Plus I'll be doing the vanos, shocks, bushes, droplinks etc, as per normal.
And all the other 101 things that crop up as you go along.

Where did you get these seats? Mine are pretty damaged, and I need to replace them.

They were the standard ones fitted to the car from new.

Auto? I’m out 😢
Wasn't aware you were after one mate?
Happy to help you look and if you find one that needs a little work then beat the price down and I'll do it for beers.

Had a ride in Jingle conversion 8) 8) 8)

3.0L facelift, manual and low miles.

No rush as I would have to sell mine at the same time

That's what happens!

A 3.0Si is a quick car with a great engine and I'd still have one if I hadn't looked at a couple of Ms.

Fitted the Storm Motorwerks gear knob today. Managed to do so without injury

Looking forward to seeing the interior swap completed and the new wheels 8)

Fitted my re-trimmed Royal Steering Wheel. Padded originally/1mm as others have done.

Also sorted something which has been bugging me since I moved the roof motor to the boot :) My Z is early 2004 and still has the roof catch to hold the roof in the down position - catch removed on facelist models as you all know. Roof goes down fine, but clearly wasn't clipping in and after a few miles the red roof light would flash. There have been countless write ups on solutions for this problem, but my Z roof folds correctly and has no springs in the rear shelf, so I was resigned to removing the rear catch and the two X hooks - the official BMW solution. Been putting it off, but someone suggested that the roof pump hydraulic fluid might need top up as pump now mounted at an angle in the boot. So obvious now I look at it, small top up, a few roof operations to self bleed and it works perfectly, the roof catch clipping in every time

Had a busy day:

  • Added sound dampening to the doors
  • Inverted the polarity of the passenger side window regulator
  • Swapped the scuffed interior door handles for new ones
  • Added an auxiliary input
  • Installed a infotainment system

Not the best day with the Z so far...
Realised I was consumming washer fluid very fast a couple of weeks ago. Also started having low coolant warnings, did top up from MIN to MAX level and while doing more driving yesterday warning came back. This morning I had a below minimum coolant level. Topped up, ran a bleed procedure and clearly it had got low enough to get some air into the circuit...

So jacked the car, took the undertray off as it was both covered in water and hiding everything.

I could hear a drip from the front left corner, took the fog light access door off and confirmed a leaking washer jet, so easy and reassuring about the washer situation.

Still have not found the culprit for the coolant, so will keep the car parked a couple of days so it gets to dry and keep an eye on both coolant level and water traces :fuelfire: Will order all the parts once I figure out the issue... Also noticed lollipop bushings are not in great condition, ARB might have some play as well but that will be for later, I want to learn and enjoy the car before improving handling :driving:
