What have you done to your car today?

Yesterday it took me about 4 hours to replace the fog lights. It doesn’t help when you have a bad back!
To gain easier access I took the front wheels off. It wasn’t a difficult job just bloody awkward, wish I had a lift or was 20 years younger😀ECFE37AC-61E4-4004-8245-05B030F82A5E.jpeg

I had to do this on my old 2.0. Very tricky but 100% worth it. Looks like a new car!

Unicorn!!

I thought that too - these Silver Grey Coupes with Imola leather and CSLs are common as muck!

haha, I really enjoyed seeing your photo. Mine is away for insp 2 and a few bits, I'm pining for it right now! For me, it's our colour combo or an alpine white with imola leather (I haven't seen one before!).

I hope you get yours back soon without too many surprises. I had an Inspection 2 last month and by the time Ross (Bowser134) found a few other issues my bank account is still reeling.

My perfect choice would be Imola Red with Sepang leather.

Just replaced my leather gaiters to alcantara. Also changed to a alcantara performance knob and alcantara handbrake handle.
knob fits great and tight fit.

Snap! They match well don’t they

I got mine from j-f-customs on eBay. They’ll do whatever you like, just message them. About £30 all in.

looks great as well... how does the knob fit? Is the figment the same meaning it can’t be twisted etc?
fits great, you just need to get used to holding a smaller knob.

Took the car out for the first time in 7 or 8 weeks. It felt good to get behind the wheel and drop the top.

Well it did until I happened upon one of those pesky kerbs that jump out at you. Put a scrape around the near side front wheel. Not deep, but the wheels were refurbished not so long ago and looked pristine. So cross with myself! :x

Then spent an age in the garage trying to find some wheel paint I knew I had. Prepped and primed the damage ready to receive some top coat and lacquer later.

I did also manage to get my airbag light to go out with the help of my new code reader. Hoping it stays out.

First time using the Autobrite Foam Lance today, been using a cheapo ebay Chinese jobby for 3 years thats done the job, but holy mother this Autobrite one is such a better piece of kit. Way more adjustment range and more sensitive too. Did both cars and still had just under half the 1 litre bottle left.

I always thought we were meant to avoid getting detergents on the soft top.
Do you find the snow foam cleans the fabric well?

It lifts off any loose surface dirt but nothing more. It's never done any harm to the top, ultimately why would a bit of soap sitting on it for 5 minutes do damage when it's designed to live outside in all sorts of weather.

Looked at it :D not long now hopefully my precious :D

Fitted some Gloss Black Grilles to the E89. I was going to go OEM but I couldn't seem to find any below about £110 and I was a bit disappointed to read the OEM slats are a satin not gloss, its just the outer rim thats gloss. So I took a risk on the M Style ones at circa £50 as their all gloss and had decent reviews. Well so far so good, they look pretty good and fit fairly well. The plastic tabs are a little more brittle than OEM so you have to be a bit more careful fitting them, so you don't snap any. The paint finish looks good.

Also got around to polishing it after a wash and clay. Used Chemical Guys White Light Hybrid followed by Collinite 845. Looks pretty good for a white car although it I'm honest I'm not sure how much extra the White Light brings to the party as I couldn't really find any impartial reviews, everything on the net seems to be a Chemical Guys sales pitch. It might well have been better just using the Collinite, :)

That Collinite 845 will give good durability and a nice gloss have popped a coat of that on mine after a clay polish and seal and it just goes to show when it comes to looks most waxes look the same as I had to do the Z in stages due to a disc problem and tennis elbow so at one point she was wearing Collinite 845 , Victoria Concours and CG Butter wet wax and they all look and feel the same

I would have used the Concours but not enough left and its not made anymore as it did look good when layered.

Not exactly today but last Friday, I cleaned my roof because it was getting really manky, green mould and white blobs here and there. I had a bit of BMW roof cleaner left from my last Z and a new bottle of Autoglym cleaner. I first used up the BMW one then went onto the Autoglym, both worked well but if I had to say, the BMW stuff took 1st place.
It took 2 goes with a stiff nail brush but it looked good when done.
I then mixed 2 bottles of black liquid shoe polish with the Autoglym proofer and put 2 coats on the roof and have to say I’m impressed with the result, my roof is black again👍👍
I should have took before pics to show the difference but I forgot 😳😳

Did a quick change of the roundel on front bumper even the smallest of details help keep that fresh look

Washed and polished her, then ran up to temperature, up and down the drive to clean up the discs. Can't wait to get out and try the new seats

These days I tend to favour durability rather than outright depth/gloss/shine etc. Especially as both my Z4's are light colours, where getting any sort of depth seems near impossible.
