What have you done to your car today?

Well today I did something rather radical 😳
I put my whippy back on.
Despite the fact the stubby looks better, the reception from the stubby was crap šŸ’©
I’m sure there are better stubbys out there, but the one I was using was crap.
I recall I had a oem one on the 85, and that was better, so that may be the answer.
So for the time being , back to the remote control car lookšŸ™„21224C27-62F0-4475-AD43-84007AEA3C9A.jpeg
Funny you mentioned that, I've found exactly the same thing. Stubby (it was more of a semi-stubby) was very good on the E85 but the E89 stubby is not great at all.

My receptions fine, bit I am using a genuine bmw stubby :?

think that may be the answer.
will have to pay the 24.00 and get the bmw one, robbin gits :x

Got my replacement drivers side, front wing M badge today from BMW North Oxford. "Only" set me back £46 , which was cheaper than the ones listed on eBay and Amazon. Also picked up a trim removal kit, so I can get the old clips out of the drivers side sill and reinstall the kickplate at last.

Hopefully, by this weekend, all the cosmetics should be sorted for the time being.

Managed to get the front discs changed to bmw performance drilled/floating discs and painted the callipers satin black hammerite. Just the rears to do now!

Did the roof motor relocate. Man this was NOT fun.

Couldn't get the lower casing out for the longest time, got so frustrated and ended up needing to summon all my man-strength to break the end clippy/slot bit.

Bonuses from the job though:

- I found out my motor is in great condition :D
- I didn't have a blockage in my drain hole as the casing and insulation was very tidy :D
- My rear shocks are likely not 15 years old (foam was cut apart so someone has been in there) :D
- It was near 40 degrees C here in Sydney today so I basically did a sauna treatment :D

Oh i also ordered a new soft top to replace mine (it was slashed and patched up by the previous owner and I tried my best in the last 3 years+ to ignore it)! Another tedious but ultimately rewarding job to come

Put my new plate on that i got for Xmas.... 8)

plate (1 of 1).jpg

Nice looking reg plate  Can't be doing with illegally spaced/squashed-up efforts contriving to make a dubious word or name etc. Just a nice prefix and 3 initials always looks best imho....conceals the age of the car nicely also :D

I concur  it never seizes to amaze me the lengths some private reg plate owners go to in order to get their plate to spell out something, which usually ends up looking terrible

This is my other half's one I got her for Christmas. Does the job of masking the vehicles age, aswell as containing both our initials, so it's actually personal to us, rather than trying to be something it's not

I know it's not a Z4, but as you can see part of my Z4 in the photo, I think it's allowed   :fuelfire:

Got rid of this bad boy. Shame is the bust screen was only fitted three months ago but someone left a large stone in the centre lane of the A12 in Essex - at least it was the screen and not a big dink or chip in the bonnet or front bumper!

And another big  to Aviva who agreed my request for OEM glass and seal again ( the second time in three months) straight away!

Installed my kW clubsports on fishy dave's rather splendid lift. First impressions are mmmm :)

Some nice machinery there. I like the GTR and the very citrus Lotus but the F40's the one for me. Nice to see it's obviously been driven a bit 'cause it's mucky !

Yes, a lot of tasty stuff there.
And a few clowns leaving the meet sliding them up the road.
I did chuckle when one span his 3 series round and blocked the road.
Oh to be young and stupid again šŸ˜€
