What hat to wear?

comfy, has good sun protection, and the brim is stiff enough to hold firm in a gale.

Tilley are quality hats but I find mine (a T3) has too much brim and it feels insecure over 80mph.

I've got a selection of hats (and scarves) in the Z for all weathers. Have you considered a wide brimmed bush hat? If you're not keen on 'IQ reducers' (baseball caps) some golfer styles have a different fuller cut. Another approach to the baseball cap is the logo - I've got a Croft circuit green and brown cap I quite like to wear. Perhaps we should have some discreetly logo'd Z4 forum caps done for members?

Brave the humour cos there's a serious question in here.

I too am under gentle treatment on my forehead for an issue of over exposure for a lifetime to sun. Currently wear a Palmer sport baseball cap.

Living in the 'Sunshine State' is one of key reasons I didn't consider buying a roadster. The sun is simply too fierce for too much of the year. Oh, and we also hold the dubious honour of being the skin cancer capital of the world :-(

My advice would be to always wear a hat when driving with the hood down. And even a baseball cap would demonstrate a higher IQ than no hat at all ;-)

as many of us are NOT our ZEDs in the
as seen in the post above but live in an area as far north as Calgarry in Canada (the place where we live is as far north as Dawson Creek in Canada)(but Kingston upon Hull is not the far more south), warm and sunny days are not really often seen!
here a suggestion for more "wintery" conditions
