What Happened To LOCKDOWN!

I was working last night, through to 6 this morning and can say, I have never seen the roads so quiet. Did quite a bit of driving and was amazed at the deserted roads.
This is a great time for the councils to do the road repairs, still plenty of potholes out there and not so much traffic.

Councils are skint, no one can afford the council tax!

Local authorites are under great stress now, potholes are the last thing on their mind, social care is top priority now.

True about opportunity though, quiet roads etc, although they'd never keep 2 metres apart....the pot holes arent even that far apart :D

Councils are never going to be able to afford anything now - the next chapter of austerity will make the last one look like a spending spree!

They are still doing repairs around here, but as usual they are doing the back streets when the very quiet main roads fall to bits

Funny you say that! I drove to the bank yesterday to pay in some cash and the main road had about 20 repairs done. Granted, they were absolutely awful repairs  but dodgy tarmac is better than giant holes.

I’m tempted to keep my 17” wheels on and leave the 19”s in my garage because of this, that’s if i ever drive it again! :o

True

Just watched a programme on the virus, which suggested potentially we could be on some sort of lockdown until a vaccine becomes available which could be anything up to 12 months :o If you think about it, there's no cure so even if deaths stabilise the virus isn't going to go away anytime soon.

How can you do social distancing in third world countries, india/slums etc impossible so at the very least travel will be a no go.

The way forward at the moment is testing.

They call it a stay at home order here... Everybody non essential must stay home. Looking about :? everybody must be essential?

I do however also agree that there are a lot of people out and I have seen people in my street leaving the house more than once a day and i know they are not even going to work.

Seen people walking dogs in my street I have never seen before and there are more people running past my house than the local marathon but as said guidelines are not clear enough to those with no grey matter

Funny how this happens . I work in the cruise line industry and as soon as people get on the ship they hit the gym and jogging track. A lot of them (And the signs are obvious) have probably not engaged in this kind of exorcise for years but because they are on "vacation" it's time to suddenly get fit.

Was speaking to a mate yesterday and he’s on the road squad who do potholes and emergency repairs etc. He said their squad of 14 is down to 4 on a rotational basis and they’ve only been out 3 times in 10 days for emergency pothole repairs. Said their instructions are emergency works only as they are deemed as essential otherwise not allowed out specifically for routine maintenance,

Says they’ve been out gritting more than anything else.

Not sure what it is with the non collection of rubbish though. The tip is closed and they are not collecting, bit of an odd situation, thought rubbish collection would be part of essential services.

Recycling is collected though.

Meanwhile, Joe Public is throwing their rubbish in my woods. I even have a lawnmower chucked over my fence now

Have to put it back on the other side to avoid it becoming my problem.

Crazy here - Landfill collected as usual.

Recycling collected as usual, but garden rubbish not collected and of course everyone has loads now they've started cutting their grass.

They usually collect it the same week as recycling, so why can't they still do that? :headbang:

Especially as they will only take it if you pay a subscription to get the garden bin emptied, or put it in their paper bags that they sell for £1 each. So loads of grass cuttings in paper bags for weeks is really going to end well - not!

Had someone this afternoon who decided to take a walk in my back garden, it was apparently ok as he did not climb over my fence but walked via the neighbours ...

Pretty predictable behaviour across the Uk today  proof you will never convince a delinquent they are acting stupid

A quite word with a piece of 4 by 2 you happened to be carrying at the time.
Just make sure it is 2 meters long to maintain correct social distancing.
