What Happened To LOCKDOWN!

When lockdown was ordered by the government, where i live, became like a ghost town. But looking out of my window while self isolating today, it dawned on me that the road outside my property is like a motorway!!

Have people forgot how dangerous this time is?

To me, it is fukcin crazy how many people are ignoring the strong advice to only go out if absolutely necessary. I see people walking their dogs stopping for a chat with their neighbors, kids playing football, and car after car going by.

Unless by a miracle Loughborough has become immune to covid "WHAT HAPPENED TO LOCKDOWN"

I'm getting sick of saying this now. It's such a sensationalist word to use, so everyone's throwing it around willy nilly. It's not a lockdown whatsoever.

Guarantee it'll be ridiculous, but you do have to feel some sort of empathy towards people without outdoor spaces to enjoy in their homes. The families stuck in high rise flats with young children, that must be an awful experience

You're showing me a news article from a media company. At no point have the government stated this is a lockdown.

You really think we're in lockdown when people can go for walks/runs/cycles around the streets? If so, God help you over the next few weeks, if/when a real lockdown comes into force.

Got to agree with ben g we are not in lockdown, definately not compared with other countries such as Spain, France and Italy.
The government website gives you the list of waht you can and cant do.
Things you can do include excerise or walk your dog once a day and go to work if you cant work from home. Note that when it says go to work it doesn't limit this to critical workers it states "If you cannot work from home then you can still travel to work. This is consistent with the Chief Medical Officer’s advice."

I do however also agree that there are a lot of people out and I have seen people in my street leaving the house more than once a day and i know they are not even going to work.

There is no animosity. I just don't understand why so many people feel the need to shout LOCKDOWN, even though it isn't and never was.

All I'm saying is if people really think that this process currently is lockdown, then they're buggered if and when it really does come to fruition.

I don't really care about being stuck indoors. 10 years of 3 shift working put paid to my social life, so I'm happy to stay in if that's required.

But until then, if I wish to go for some exercise around the streets, then that's my prerogative and is perfectly OK according to our government. Some people get butthurt by this, but until a full lockdown comes into force, I'll carry on like most others have.

Unsure why you had to mention the NHS. At no point did I speak about them in my post. They do a great job. The recent new addition to my household and the effort the midwives and doctors went through to save my partners life after childbirth will never be forgotten by me.

Glad to hear the NHS came through for you & your partner mate & hope everything is good for you & your family now.

I too have great respect for the NHS, as my 86 year old father who has parkinsons has been given 5 star treatment over the past year.

My boss has kindly furloughed me for now and am self isolating & have been for the past 8 days. So that is the reason why i posted my observations. So to me i just sit & read anything that points to the end of all this. SO I CAN GET BACK ON THE ROAD IN ME ZED

Given we are being encouraged to only go out for essential activities only it does make you wonder. Problem is so many are on the essential list. Our culdisac empties. A teacher, a guy who seems like he’s delivering food as his van is always full of stuff which used to be marquees, a shop worker, the petrol station guy, the road construction guy,

The only group who ought to stop are the lads in their cars who seem to be smoking even more weed in the garage next door

"Lockdown" or not,movement should be severely restricted.

I have seen an increase in people out and about close to me,as said at the beginning the roads were absolutely dead but have since got steadily busier.
The shock has worn off because most havent seen the virus first hand,so its just like an extended holiday...

Seen people walking dogs in my street I have never seen before and there are more people running past my house than the local marathon but as said guidelines are not clear enough to those with no grey matter
