What fuel should I be using?

The octane rating is basically a measure of the resistance on engine knocking or of the anti knock properties of the fuel if you prefer it. The higher you go the higher the knock resistance. Unless you experience engine knocking there is not much difference between the 2 in terms of performance and fuel consumption. At the end of the day it is just 3 octanes more, i believe if you tried something around 89 RON which is available in US the difference will be more obvious. However the fuel in EU is of high octane rating anyway. I tried both and i got similar mpg with no visible change in performance. However the 98RON is a bit cleaner as a fuel. I might test them again now we brought up this topic

As good as the theory sounds I have tested this at length and it doesn't seem to make much of a real difference in the real world.

I ran 95 for two weeks (4 tanks of fuel) and then ran 99 for two weeks (3 tanks of fuel). Difference in MPG - 1.3.

I do find that switching to Nitro, even for the weekend, makes a near instant performance gain. No need to run three tanks of the stuff to get more poke.

The 'performance gain' you speak of might actually be because you're driving it so granny-like during the week, so when you do drive it in ager, it feels fast. Drive it in anger all the time and you'll start getting used to the power and will think it's pretty slow.

Lol... Step away from the cliff... Go for a drive, that'll cheer you up..... Hmmm, maybe not.... Lol

:D

LOL! The irony is that I'm on call for work, so am housebound on what turned out to be an amazing day's weather. Bad times.

I can see this being a dangerous cycle haha! Getting into thinking it's slow could lead to an ///M.
