What faults should I know about

I have Just purchased a 2012 Z4 20i . I would really appreciate your input on any faults I should be on the lookout for.

Any common issues with electrics, mechanical faults or interior deterioration I need to be aware of?

any input would be greatly appreciated as I would like to get ahead of any issues before the pop up.

Didn't realise it was an E89 my comments are for E85 2.0l can suffer from cracked exhaust manifolds, had it with mine, replaced with a good used one. The manifold has the catalytic convertors built into it. If you have to replace it the exhaust downpipe joint is an awful job to undo, the nuts on the studs rust away and are one of the worst jobs to do on the car. Getting the studs out requires cutting slots in the exhaust flange to release the pressure on the studs in order to drift them out. I replaced mine with stainless nuts and bolts. Other problems to look out for are oil leaks from the cam cover gasket and the oil filter housing to engine block gasket. Like all BMW's airbag modules do fail and can be replaced with used modules but need coding to the car. You need a decent code reader so invest in one, I use a Creator 310+ scanner but also have all the software for use on a Laptop as well.

IIRC I'm sure I have read that the cam-chain tensioner can be a problem on the N20 until some time in 2014 when a revised part was fitted.

Anyway welcome to the forum.
