Had the 35iS for 8 years & 90,000 miles. Never not enjoyed driving it. Just feel that I fancy the fun of having another sub-5s-to-60, convertible or decent sunroof. But don't know what.

The G29 and F-Type are just missed design opportunities, AMLs are money pits, I live in a city where there are more Mercs than Fiestas, which is true of Beemer saloons, too ... et cetera.

Last night, the wife pointed out that, with the new government, if we don't spend what we've got, we won't have any to spend. So, the question has a dimension other than fun.

F33 440i. B58 engine is a peach. Fast, roomy and comfortable. Pre mid 2018s can have the MPPSK fitted, which gives more power and an incredible noise.
Or an F83 M4. More powerful but comes with 'M' tax.

Or an F13 M6 cab. Dirt cheap now to buy but very expensive to own.

Been there, done that. The only one I'd buy now is the 2nd generation 997 Carrera 4. Sadly, so would a lot of other people.

They so are not old. :wink: The best Z4 thus far produce, IMHO. I really should get another. But, no doubt like yourself, I worry about what condition the various previous owners have left for the modern buyer.

I plan to stick with my MC because like buzy I'm biased!

But if you have M4 on the list, why not add M2?

I wanted one of those. Beautiful, powerful, special. Then I read the reliability reviews.......suffice to say I don't own one!

I loved my Alfa. It was only a 156 but it just had something about it.

Don't get me wrong, I would love an Alfa. I have never owned one, purely because I have never been brave enough. When I was looking for my first car in 1985, I really wanted an Alfasud 1.5ti. My old man vetoed it, for good reason. I have flirted with the idea many times since. I do vaguely remember going to look at a 156 estate about 20 years ago. The "Alfas are trouble" voice just kept appearing so I passed.

I had my fix of Italian cars many years ago with a couple of twin-cam 1970s Fiats. Fantastic engines, but eye-watering maintenance costs.

But the other thing that put me off that Giulia was the price! And the lack of a manual gearbox.

I'd save thousands and have a manual M2.

I would agree. The M2 in manual guise is a strong contender for the ultimate modern 'performance and practical car' IMO.
If only it wasn't bought by rear facing baseball cap wearers of 28 with a well-paying job in IT. I live on a main road in and out of town and the noisiest, most annoying 'gattling gun' exhaust cars that come past my house are all M2s. So I just couldn't have one as I'm an ageing snob. :roll:
