What else does Nav control?

I've never left home and failed to reach my intended location so Nav isn't the be-all and end-all to me from the perspective of its primary purpose.

I understand that the Nav unit (in the cars that have it) is actually used to control other functionality too though. Does this simply make managing things easier in a Nav car than a non-Nav car or are there some things that you can control /configure if you have Nav that just are just not possible if you don't?

Thanks in advance...

did you have an updated disc? mines never taken me wrong yet.............. infact i really like the unit, if you keep it updated its really good!!

I imagine you can plug in an Intravee kit (like you can on an E46 M3), thereby giving you full control of your iPod via the nav screen.

On my M3 you use that screen for the OBC, stereo/radio and phone control (if you have bluetooth). Useful stuff. I have a modded 2010 disc for the satnav which gives audible speed camera alerts too.

Just gives better control over stereo and phone as you have bigger screen, and as above means Intravee install if you use an iPod is quite a tasty addition.

Where did you get the 2010 disc and how much was it??

There's a guy on m3cutters that put it together for me. It's an updated OS plus new map with camera alerts. I presume he'll have the 2011 disc by now. You can even supply an image for a new splash screen rather than the standard BMW one that appears on start up :D Wasn't expensive, less than half a tank of fuel IIRC.

I'll PM him and ask if he's OK with me PMing his details... I'm presuming the Mods are OK with this, if not let me know

Guys - can you kill this line of discussion please unless you asure us this is 100% legal software, which sounds unlikely.

We cannot condone pirate software.

In terms of the sat nav screen I think that most thisngs can be doen without it, except watching the TV if you have that module. Frankly though being able to see phone list, radio and cd information on a large screen is many times better

Not unless I've missed out on a trick, I have nav but no bluetooth.

If you want to stay legal you can get firmware update here and instructions for adding speed cams:

http://www.xoutpost.com/electronics/navigation-system/50902-v32-has-been-released-now-available.html

I don't have Nav but am I right in thinking that if you have the stereo on, let's say a CD, and you close the Nav lid down that if you then change tracks it pops it back up again?

Is it possible to add a bluetooth to an existing Sat Nav?

thanks

Yes it is, CJ has done it and I have all the kit to do it.

Thanks for clearing that up. Bluetooth is more important to me but i want to get an ipod kit so the sat nav screen would come in handy.

CJ you might want to stop the banner advert for www.satnav-updates.com that this site promotes then.

Ooopsss!!!!

Satnav screen also provides additional board computer functions that are not available to non satnav cars.

You can also display hidden functions such as G-force etc.
