What does this warning light mean?

My car pinged at me today

on the dash a clock symbol appeared with 8.11 underneath it

im trying to post a pic, but ive been locked out of my flickr :headbang:
 
Definitely a brake fluid change reminder and I thought the 8.11 referred to a date, but in this instance I can't imagine what. Perhaps the date of the last change - i.e. November 2008 and it's giving you six months warning? The manual will definitely tell you.
