Hi all.

The centre latch operates and I have storage behind there but what does this upper latch/button actually do.

I can press it in but I can't see anything happening.

If it can be pressed down I'd expect something to open/activate but nothing does.

What is it and is it broke??

TIA.

pretty sure its the release catch for the manual roof mechanism, so assuming u have an auto roof it doesnt do anything :)

Cheers pal.

Yep, auto roof, aren't they all??

I wondered why it did nothing when I pressed it!!

i think all UK spec cars have electric roofs, but there was a manual option that i think was available in the USA for some silly reason (why pay for a sports car convertible then save on the auto roof??)

If your auto roof fails, press this button to release the hood from the lock allowing you to manually close the roof.

Thank you

hmm will have to double check tomorrow but im sure ive tried it and it doesnt push in or anything (i may be wrong, but pretty sure it doesnt)

Haven't had the chance to use it (thank goodness as it shows the electrics are still A-ok!) but it is supposedly to release the catch that secures the roof in down position to allow you to manually lift the roof should the motor be faulty. I believe its operation is detailed in the user manual.

There was a manual roof option was for US models. One member of our local club has a 2006 3.0i with the manual option and it's very simple to operate. The only down side I see to it is no roof liner. He wanted the manual roof as roof motor failures are a common expensive problem that he wanted to avoid.
